Name[edit]
Is it Mountbatten or Mountbatton? Frabby (talk) 15:59, 30 November 2020 (EST)
- Sources conflict. Field Manual: Warden Clans and Field Manual: Updates say Mountbatton. Wars of Reaving, Historical: Liberation of Terra Volume 1 and Jihad: Final Reckoning say Mountbatten. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 02:13, 1 December 2020 (EST)
- A quick online research indicates that there is a real-world noble House Mountbatten, while Mountbatton seems to only ever appear as a misspelling of Mountbatten. On this bases, I'll assume the "e" spelling is correct. But before moving the article, I'll bring the question up in Ask the Writers. Maybe we can get a definitive answer. - The next king of england will be a Mountbatten (technically a Mountbatten-Windsor) so they are quite a powerful noble house as far as noble families go these days. It would make sense that the ship name is is a reference to this since we already have several in-universe references to House Windsor.--Dmon (talk) 06:19, 2 December 2020 (EST)
- Also, it may well be a reference to Field Marshal Louis Mountbatten, given that BattleTech has a tendency to reference prominent 20th century military figures when naming things. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 04:07, 4 December 2020 (EST)

While my request for an official clarification hasn't yielded a reply yet, I am sufficiently convinced now that Mountbatten is the correct name and have moved the article accordingly. Frabby (talk) 04:53, 4 December 2020 (EST)
