Merge[edit]

Since this is the same brigade as the Galedon Regulars, just with a different name, I propose this article be merged into that one. --Scaletail 00:07, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I considered doing that but we have the same thing with the Alshain Avengers/Alshain Regulars/Rasalhague Regulars and they have their own articles. --Dmon 00:23, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I see your point, Dmon, but I think there is legit difference between the Alshain Regulars and the Rasalhague Regulars. The Avengers? I could see your point.
Doneve - was the change made before or after those units converted to Battlemechs? ClanWolverine101 01:54, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I don't think it should be merged. Reason being what has been done in the past and it has worked. Tikonov Free Republic's Republican Guards were fragments if not whole Regiment that belong to Capellan Confederation. It was new start for them, plus it keep getting their older history mixed up with previous exploits. I say we do the same with the New Smarkand Regulars. Yes, Galadeon Regulars are the New Smarkand Regulars, but someone looking up Galadeon Regulars will be little confused unless they were up to date with events in Battletech universe. To keep things organized, New Samarkand Regulars should be kept seperate and have links that say "Also See" to new unit that it succeeded them, even if its a rename in some cases. -- Wrangler 12:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
With respect for the above arguments, I would point out that none of them are good reasons for this article. Redirects exist to point readers to what they're looking for. Any confusion should be cleared up by reading the introductory paragraphs. By that logic, we should have separate articles for Anastasius Focht & Frederick Steiner and Galen Cox & Jerrard Cranston. --Scaletail 00:06, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Point of order : Regarding the Alshain Regulars, it was my impression they were NOT simply renamed Rasalhague Regulars units, but rather were drawn from the old Regulars and reorganized. If this is incorrect, I withdraw the statement. ClanWolverine101 13:03, 18 December 2011 (PST)

Origin - Dieron Regulars or Galedon Regulars?[edit]

Far too early to add to BTW yet, but Field Manual: 3085 lists an entirely different origin for the New Smarakand Regulars which will greatly effect any merging.Cyc 07:29, 13 January 2012 (PST)

I don't have FM:85 yet but I am actually kinda glad that it sn't a simple renaming as that always seems to cause problems here on the Wiki and off course I am now looking forward to finding out :-) --Dmon 07:36, 13 January 2012 (PST)
