Tanadi Computers was a civilian and military computer manufacturer within the Draconis Combine.[2]
Overview[edit]
Tanadi Computers produced computers for office, government, and home use within the Draconis Combine. In addition, it also designed and installed communications systems for those parties who were interested.[2][3]
As Tanadi had many government contracts working on vital, secret computer technologies, the security clearances and loyalty screening of its employees were higher than even the normal paranoid Kuritan security protocols. Those employees who become curious about what is going on in forbidden sections of the plant would quickly find they had no jobs.[2] Frequently, upstart electronics companies were invited to join Tanadai Computers in the interests of efficiency. These invitations were rumored to occasionally employ "encouragement" from Yakuza clans.[4]
Tanadi had a rivalry with Chandrasekhar Kurita's Hachiman Taro Electronics that went back to HTE's founding, when their first manufacturing plant was constructed in 3022 on the same planet they had long dominated. Intimidation, vandalism, and even assassination attempts failed, and Tanadi's best employees were being lured away to HTE by their offers of better pay and working conditions. HTE contined to grow, and by the time of the Clan Invasion, they were equal in size and market share. Tanadi's CEO died tragically in 3056 and left no immediate heirs; his third cousin would inherit his controlling company stake, who as a career soldier had no interest in interstellar business and was happy make a fortune selling it to Chandrasekhar.[5]
Amau Electronics became a division of Tanadi Computers sometime between 3057–3063.[6] Tanadi reclaimed important assets on Irece, Jeronimo, and Luzerne when the Combine liberated those worlds from Clan Smoke Jaguar.[1]
