Tane "Kraken" Bennett was born on one of the archipelagos of Zangul—to be precise, on one of the roving fleets that served as fishing villages for the planet's only starport city. "Banished" for complaining too much about fishing, he discovered 'Mechs for the first time at the starport.
His unique skills got him a contract for a mercenary company, but when he was asked to execute a dishonorable assassination during a mission, he fled never returning to that unit. Since then, he has worked for other mercenary commands.
