Tassen Sorenson was the commanding officer of the Twenty-second Rasalhague Regulars as of 3025.[2]

History[edit]

Tai-sho Sorenson, serving with the Twenty-second Rasalhague Regulars, was stationed on Heiligendreuz in 3025.[2]

During the latter half of the Fourth Succession War, Sorenson and the Twenty-second Regulars were charged with defending Gunzburg from the Lyran Commonwealth's Mobile Fire and Bad Dream mercenary regiments. At first, Sorenson's men were able to use their knowledge of the local terrain to avoid getting stuck in heavy combat with the mercenary units, until an intercepted message from Mobile Fire's commander in August 3029 indicated that half of his men had become sick with Birnheart's Fever. Sorenson incorrectly believed Mobile Fire's message to be genuine and compounded this error by thinking Bad Dream was more than three hours away from their allied unit. When the Twenty-second Regulars advanced on Mobile Fire's seemingly-abandoned encampment, the mercenaries' BattleMechs burst from underneath the waters of the Todd Marshes while Bad Dream simultaneously appeared on the Regulars' rear flank.[1]

Sorenson's men were quickly picked apart by the Lyran mercenaries, leading him to order his unit's surrender rather than seeing it wiped out. However, Tai-sho Sorenson elected to consume a cyanide capsule rather than surrender himself, taking his own life and ceding control of Gunzburg to the Lyran Commonwealth. While the loss of the planet was seen as an embarrassment for the Draconis Combine, the defeat of the Twenty-second Rasalhague Regulars proved to be the bigger blow in the long term.[1]
