Tau Galaxy was created as part of a Clan-wide effort to pare down the size of each front-line galaxy in order to make it logistically feasible to assign galaxies to SLDF operations. Component units were culled from other Galaxies.
Deployed to the St. Ives Compact in 3061 during their conflict with the Capellan Confederation.[citation needed]

- The Galaxy was named by Khan Santin West after the Clan Smoke Jaguar Galaxy he destroyed during Operation BULLDOG.
