An off-shoot of the ComStar/Word of Blake's Terran Affairs Branch, the Terran Security Service, more generally known as TerraSec was a paramilitary organization overseeing law enforcement on the post-Schism Terra. The branch expanded massively under the Word of Blake and was active participant in the defense of Terra during the Jihad prior to its disbandment following Operation SCOUR.[1][2]
Overview[edit]
Prior to the Reformation and Secularization of ComStar, planetary level law enforcement was overseen by its intelligence agency ROM, but following Operation SCORPION and ComStar's desire for openness Secular Precentor ROM Victoria Parrdeau setup the Terran Security Service to oversee civilian law enforcement with ROM assistance to create was intended to be independent entity that had greater civilian say so in its general operation. During its initial years, TerraSec was divided into thousands of prefectures, each reporting to a district headquarters, which in turn reported to the BTA in Geneva. Due to the sheer scale of Terra, these prefectures vary wildly in size; many urban prefectures covered only a few dozen square kilometers, while some rural prefectures covered hundreds or even thousands.[1]
Following Operation ODYSSEUS and Blakist invasion of Terra which saw TerraSec assets attempt to resist the Blakist forces, the Word of Blake declared martial law and their ROM took over much of the powers the secular ComStar had given to TerraSec, causing considerable resentment in the organization and prompting a number of TerraSec troops to join the pro-ComStar resistance movement. Seeking to regain Terran trust, the Word of Blake Precentor Martial Trent Arian maintained TerraSec and allowed it to carry out what little was left of its original job, albeit with access to weaponry heavily restricted during the initial period of martial law.[1]
During the time of the Jihad the massive expanded TerraSec's main command center was on Terra's moon Luna.[3] They fielded armoured vehicles[4], infantry[4], aerospace fighters[3], and Battlemechs.[5]
During the time that the Word Of Blake controlled Terra, TerraSec was responsible for domestic policing on Terra III. It also evolved and expanded to perform intelligence and convert operations within the Word Of Blake Protectorate.[6]
TerraSec's main supply depot and staging grounds was located at Forte Santa Cruz.[7]
By the end of Operation SCOUR in 3078, TeraSec was led by Precentor TerraSec David Alsace.[8]
