Terran Synchronized Time

Terran Synchronized Time (not to be confused with Terran Standard Time) is a time measuring system that relates the clock on a given world to a traditional clock dividing the day cycle into 24 hours. Depending on a given world's actual rotation, these local "hours" can be significantly longer or shorter than a standard metric hour.[1] By this metric, 1200 hours always corresponds to local noon.

Even under Terran Synchronized Time, dates follow the standardized metric of the universal Terran Calendar (TC) related to 0° longitude (Greenwich) on Terra and will have nothing to do with the local seasons.[1] (Though various forms of local time remain viable.)

Canonicity[edit]

Unlike Terran Standard Time, which is used in a plethora of canonical publications, Terran Synchronized Time was only described in BattleTechnology magazine. While considered canon at the time of its writing, periodicals like BattleTechnology have since been ruled to be apocryphal. However, it is still frequently conflated with Terran Standard Time in contemporary fiction with 0900 describing morning regardless of what planet it occurs on, or what time it is on Terra at that moment.
