The Thirteenth Royal French Demi-Brigade was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.
History[edit]
The Thirteenth was formed from the French Foreign Legion, of which the latter was formed in 1921. As humanity spread through the stars, the First Foreign Regiment of the Foreign Legion was split into smaller units and deployed farther and faster from Terra. The Thirteenth was one of those smaller units and was stationed on Le Blanc in the Federated Suns. When the Star League founded, all Foreign Legion units were recalled and mustered into service in the SLDF as Royal French Regiments.[2]
The Thirteenth won the Best Regiment category of the SLDF Martial Olympiad twice, in 2664 and 2692 during the Seventh and Fourteenth Olympiads held on Mars.[3][4]
In 2764, the unit was stationed on Coromodir,[2] assigned as a part of LVI Corps, Nineteenth Army to an undisclosed world within the Taurian Concordat area of the Periphery Military Region.[2][5] At this time it was one of the largest units of the Royal French Regiments.[2]
The Thirteenth was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765 in response to the Periphery Uprising. The unit survived the uprising and the Hegemony Campaign,[5] but rather than follow General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus, the Thirteenth instead chose to join the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in 2782, splitting up to become the Fourth, Fifth, and Eighth Deneb Light Cavalry regiments.[1]
