Captain Thomas Cable was a MechWarrior, who served in the Outworlds Alliance aligned Thermo Police, during the thirty-first century.[2][3]

History[edit]

Early Life[edit]

The son of a lieutenant in the Thermo Police, Cable was raised to love the unit's humanitarian mission, and as an adult was completely committed to its ideals. In 3049, the then Lieutenant Cable was even demoted to sergeant for his fixity of purpose by his superior Captain Seymore Hares, after rescuing three young civilians at a local University on Dneiper who were under threat from Antallos-based bandits pretending to be Omniss cultists despite being ordered to stand down. Hares had feared interference would result in the bandits to execute their hostages, but Cable managed to lure them away, and then collapse a building on them with his 'Mech.[3][1]

Command of the Themo Police[edit]

This was just one example of Cable's golden touch, which together with his obsession with marksmanship training, allowed him to succeed where most others would fail. This, together with his endurance, left Cable in charge of what remained of the Police once Captain Hares merged the bulk of the force into the Outworlds Alliance's military in the late-3050s.[1][3]

Following Clan Snow Raven appearance in the Outworlds in 3064, and their promises of medical and agricultural aid, Cable requested their assistance in the Police's area of operations within the Wastes. This was granted, but from the Clan perspective less for Cable's humanitarian motives, than as an opportunity to scout the Wastes for any valuable relics of the Star League.[3]

Using more subterfuge than force to advance his mission, during this period Cable tracked a major pirate force by going undercover as one of their captives, discovering to his horror they were based on the Omniss homeworld Dante, with the support of the Word of Blake. His horror was deepened however, when once extracted and reporting the pirates location to the Alliance Military, Clan Snow Raven responded by depopulating the entire planet innocent and guilty alike.[3]

Retirement[edit]

Retiring from the Police after being injured during a riot on Baliggora, and still smarting from what he considered a betrayal by the Snow Ravens on Dante, Cable joined the Columbia Academy to teach less-lethal force to Alliance Military Corps and Snow Raven cadets.[3]

BattleMech[edit]

Cable was known to have piloted a WHM-6Rk Warhammer BattleMech.[2]
