The Tukayyid boar spider was a species of animal native to Tukayyid, found in the grasslands of North Losije. Resembling oversized wild boars with eight legs, Tukayyid boar spiders were distinctly friendly towards humans, friendly enough and safe enough that whole families would often interact with the boar spiders. However, if panicked or enraged, their sheer size and strength could make them a threat to even BattleMechs.[1]
Tukayyid boar spiders were driven nearly to extinction by the 3052 Battle of Tukayyid, their habitat the site of the Clan Nova Cat campaign. Large numbers died in the crossfire.[1] In one notable engagement, shortly after landing, the Nova Cat forces were ambushed by ComStar, whose first shots sparked a boar spider stampede that threatened both sides.[2]
In the aftermath of the Battle of Tukayyid, the local government invested heavily in bringing the boar spider population back from the brink; by 3250, they were no longer near extinction.[1]
