System Description[edit]

Tunlmar is located near the Milos and Hustaing systems.

System History[edit]

Lamu was a Star League-era inhabited system in the Sian Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[2][3][4] At some point during the First Succession War the system was renamed Tunlmar but remained a part of the Sian Commonality and subsequently vanished from maps during the Second Succession War.[5][6]

Planetary History[edit]

Tunlmar is outside of the normal habitable zone of its twin suns, but a methane-rich atmosphere close to three times the pressure of Terra's renders it a subtropical world. A lack of free oxygen means the world is bombarded by high amounts of radiation, which local life has adapted to withstand. Capellan colonists named the world Lamu, and were confined to shielded, pressurized communities in the world's high altitude regions. Plans to terraform Lamu were scrapped due to the locals desire to preserve the native ecology. Lamu remained sparsely populated and not particularly remarkable for most of its history.[32]

In 2825, for unclear reasons, the Confederation chose to change Lamu's name to Tunlmar. Around the same time, one of the system's stars began a period of unusually high coronal activity. Intense solar radiation shut down local communication networks and power grids, destroying the local Hyperpulse Generator and Recharge Station. After a passing JumpShip reported the absence of signs of life in the Tunlmar system, the Capellan Confederation conducted a brief investigation, and found that the solar activity had wiped out the local population. In 2846 the Confederation wrote Tunlmar off.[32]

Rumors in the 3090s suggested that a group of neo-Luddites had attempted to recolonize Tunlmar.[32] An Interstellar Expeditions team discovered an abandoned neo-Luddite JumpShip in the system in 3103, and that at some point unknown persons had relocated the system's (non functioning) recharge station to a stable orbit around Tunlmar II. No neo-Luddite colony was detected on Tunlmar I.[33]

Notes[edit]

Tunlmar is one of several planets Ghosts of Obeedah listed as an option for being the location of Obeedah, one of the Word of Blake's Hidden Five. Which world truly plays host to Obeedah was left undetermined in the sourcebook. If Tunlmar is Obeedah, the information presented in this article about the world's history will be incomplete, and information about it's state in 3152 will be incorrect.
