History[edit]

Formation[edit]

The Twelfth Ghost regiment was formed to keep the Eleventh Ghost regiment under control. The Eleventh Ghost, though generally loyal to the Combine, might engage in irresponsible behavior that would lead to trouble. By placing the Twelfth Ghost on the same world, the DCMS High Command hoped that the Eleventh would focus on their common enemy rather than cause trouble.[4]

Ronin War[edit]

War of 3039[edit]

Matar[edit]

The unit was created recently and had its first chance to prove its worth to the Dragon during the counterattack of the DCMS. Teaming up with its sister unit, the Eleventh Ghost, the commands were welcomed as liberators by the local citizens. The AFFS unit used the time to start a counterassault at the position of the Twelfth Ghost. The unit tried to link up with the other command but failed. The fight in the city cost many civilian lives and saw the destruction of entire streets. The situation turned worse when the second AFFS command entered the fighting as well. The city population took arms against the invaders and forced the AFFS from the world.[5]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Operation Bulldog[edit]

Dominion War[edit]

The Twelfth was on Numki briefly, skirmishing with both the Eleventh Ghost and the Ghost Bear forces.[6]

Federated Suns Incursion[edit]

The Twelfth assisted other DCMS forces in retaking Al Na'ir[7], and stayed on world as the garrison force.[8]

Jihad[edit]

The Twelfth was the DCMS unit assigned to attack Cassias. Once they landed, they got into a brutal fight against the garrison unit defending the planet: the Twelfth Deneb Light Cavalry. The Nordique-Exxor chemical processing plant was leveled outside of Jubalis in the fierce combat, sending a cloud of toxic fumes into the atmosphere that forced the evacuation of three nearby metropolitan areas. The last report from the system on 17 September 3068 showed that Cassian airspace remained contested, with most of the commercial traffic still grounded. After the incident, fighting was sparse on the ground, with rumors that the Twelfth Ghost was in retreat across the Blacklick continent. The Twelfth Ghost left the planet after that action.[9]

The Twelfth Ghost regiment was on An Ting when the first survivors of the Snow Raven attack on Galedon V arrived in 3070. These refugees carried the remnants of the biological weapon used on Galedon with them and promptly infected the world. The DCMS High Command placed the world under quarantine, and the Twelfth Ghost spent the next decade enforcing that quarantine. Since the members of the unit were likely infected by the "Curse of Galedon", it was unlikely that any member of the Twelfth ever left the world.[2]

While on An Ting, the Twelfth Ghost gave up their DropShips to civilians who were able to escape the planet, willingly consigning themselves to a slow death. It was speculated that the actions of the Twelfth, more than anything else, justified the continuation of the surviving Ghost formations. As a mark of respect, while the Twelfth no longer existed after the Jihad[10], it remained on the rolls of the DCMS as an example to other units of the DCMS.[11]

Twelfth Ghost (Regiment/Green/Questionable)[4]

CO/1st Battalion: Tai-sa Maria Yoriama
XO/2nd Battalion: Chu-sa Mick Kodai
3rd Battalion: Chu-sa Challum Ysjalian
- The unit possesses no advanced equipment, because the yakuza supply none.

Twelfth Ghost Aerospace (2 Companies/Regular/Questionable)[4]

Wing Commander: Sho-sa Nathan Blazer
- The unit lost 1 complete company through an "accidental" fire. Rumors suggest the involvement of the Eleventh Ghost.

51st Benjamin Auxiliary (2 Battalions/Regular/Reliable)[4]

Armor Commander: Chu-sa Luke Austin
- This unit acts as military police to the MechWarrior corps.

7th Najha Militia (Regiment/Regular/Reliable)[4]

Troop Commander: Tai-sa Ageo Korusuku
- To prevent a rebellion of the MechWarriors, the DCMS high command assigned 3 platoons of DEST troopers to the roster of the unit. The DEST troopers are fanatical in their loyalty to House Kurita.

3070[edit]

Twelfth Ghost (Regiment/Veteran/Questionable)[15]

Note: At this point in time, the unit was stationed on An Ting at 65% strength.[15]

Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]

The Ghost Regiments painted their machines with a base of light gray, effectively white. The Ghost Regiments did not maintain a brigade-style insignia as they did not function or were administered as a brigade.[16]

The Twelfth Ghost used an accent of dusk gray and black. As former yakuza, they painted full-body scenes on their 'Mechs. The Twelfth maintained a band of stars that begins on the right shoulder, streaks across the torso, and down the left arm and leg of the BattleMechs. The band was interrupted by twelve eclipsed moons, with a fully eclipsed moon with only its corona visible on each 'Mech's chest. Kill markers were added as red stars to the field.[4][17][18]
