Creation[edit]
The Twenty-third Dieron Regulars were one of thirty-one regiments of Dieron Regulars to be created by the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery after 2765.[3] The Dieron Regulars expanded by ten regiments during the Amaris Civil War,[4] and a further twenty-one regiments were raised between the end of the Civil War and the end of the First Succession War. Of the latter twenty-one regiments, eight were formed by recruiting Star League Defense Force personnel and units - including the Twenty-third - whilst the remainder were recruited more conventionally.[3] Some of the regiments of Dieron Regulars recruited from the SLDF were single regiments recruited wholesale, but the Twenty-third was based around two battalions of assorted personnel drawn from the remains of the 133rd Jump Infantry Division,[1] one of the divisions within XXXI Corps,[5] a part of the Thirteenth Army.[1][5]
First Succession War[edit]
The Twenty-third Dieron Regulars were stationed along the border of the Lyran Commonwealth on Kaus Australis at the beginning of the First Succession War. The unit would survive the fearsome fighting of the war and return to Kaus Australis, but they had suffered over two-thirds losses in men and material.[3]
Second Succession War[edit]
By the beginning of the Second Succession War, the Twenty-third had been almost rebuilt and provided heavier equipment while still stationed on Kaus Australis. However, the unit was destroyed at some point during the war.[2]
