Ulrich Wagner was a notable armored infantry officer in the Fourth Royal Guards during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History[edit]
Serving with the Hesperus Planetary Militia during the Ninteenth Battle of Hesperus, Hauptmann Wagner participated in the defense of the critical Calipee Pass against a Trinary of Clan Jade Falcon's Raptor Keshik. While Hauptmann Heller Abke's DI Schmitt tanks established a defensive line in the pass, Wagner personally lead a company of battle armor troopers in an ambush of the Falcon forces under the cover of a severe sandstorm. Wagner's troopers dealt damage to the enemy's machines before making a speedy withdrawal and an attempt by a Shadow Cat II to pursue the offending infantrymen resulted in the MechWarrior's death when the BattleMech tumbled off the mountain. After four more strikes against the pursuing Falcons, Wagner's men had lost half of the ground before Abke's defensive line and two soldiers for the cost of moderate damage to half of the enemy forces. His expectation that the Falcons would attempt to claim the ridgeline at his new position proved true when Wagner's troopers were engaged by a Summoner, which was felled only after it eliminated a third of his troopers.[2][3][4]
By the time the battle with the Summoner concluded, the remainder of the Falcon Trinary had pushed up and begun battling against the militia's DI Schmitts. After charging in and catching the Falcons in a crossfire, Wagner's warriors managed to eliminate the entire enemy unit at the cost of almost forty percent casualties.[2][4] When Hesperus II was liberated in February 3145, Wagner accepted a promotion to the rank of hauptmann-kommandant and a billet in the Fourth Royal Guards. As a member of the Guards, he served as executive officer for the unit's Bravo Battalion and was in charge of all battle armor troopers stationed on Hesperus.[1]
