Description[edit]
Introduced in 2640 by the Terran Hegemony[4], the Ultra AC/5 (also UAC/5) was an upgraded version of the standard autocannon/5. Utilizing a different loading mechanism, the Ultra autocannons were capable of maintaining a substantially increased rate of fire over traditional or LB-X autocannons, at the cost of higher heat and the risk of jamming. Of course, the rapid-fire autocannons required a much larger supply of ammunition to maintain their rate of fire. This high dependence on ammunition limited the effectiveness of the weapon. Being of a lower caliber, the Ultra autocannon/5 had an increased range, at the cost of reduced damage over higher-caliber versions.

KWI Ultra[edit]
Developed especially for the STN-3L Sentinel, this advanced weapon was capable of firing at double the rate of a standard AC/5, a feature that was unique at the time.

Variants[edit]
- UAC/P
- During the War of 3039, the Federated Commonwealth employed a prototype version of the UAC/5 among some of its elite units. These systems were similar to standard UAC/5s, except they required an additional critical slot, jammed more often when operating at its maximum rate of fire, and could jam even when fired at the standard rate.[11]
