Not to be confused with the ultralight weight class for 'Mechs, "Ultralyte" 'Mechs are fully functional but technologically inferior mock 'Mechs that are built to mimic BattleMechs, with inferior materials and quality. As of 3010 they were widely used for gladiatorial arena combat on Galatea in crimelord Haskell Blizzard's empire, using low-powered weapons.[1]

Known Ultralyte replica 'Mechs included a Commando[1], a Panther[1], and a Javelin.[2]

Since they are not built from military-grade materials they are cheap and easy to repair. It was not entirely clear from the context if Ultralyte duelling 'Mechs are a form of IndustrialMech or if they are such cheap constructions that they do not even meet IndustrialMech standards.

Notably, their cockpit controls seem to be on par with those of regular BattleMechs, and they can use full-powered energy weapons and install real 'Mech weaponry such as missile launchers. However, their armor is only 20% as effective as real (military grade) 'Mech armor.[2]

In 3010, the Kell Hounds deployed a detachment of 20 Ultralytes (with Patrick Kell piloting an ultralyte Javelin) as part of their force sent to quell the uprising of the Church of Jesus Majificent, where they did see combat.[2]
