Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Buzzard, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Buzzard" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

List of users[edit]

Hiya, welcome to Sarna! You asked for a list of users. The answer is "well, sort of":

  • There's this Special:ListUsers - but it lists all registered user accounts which is a bit misleading. Many users registered once a couple of years ago and never did a single edit, and a few may even be inactive spambots or the like.
  • Then there's this "active users" list, listing those who were actively editing in the last 30 days: Special:ActiveUsers. It gives a slightly better overview of those user accounts who are actually active here. Unfortunately, at this time the list includes a lot of spambots that registered in the past week. These accounts will be deleted eventually, but for now they're only blocked so that our Bureaucrat can investigate them and improve our spam defenses.
  • Finally, we've got the BattleTechWiki:New user log page where users can introduce themselves to the community (in addition to whatever they put on their actual user pages). Users who posted there have typically been rather active in the community, but still many entries are from users who have moved on to other endeavours and whose accounts haven't been used in many years.

Hope that helps. Frabby (talk) 02:56, 10 May 2017 (EDT)

Yes that is helpful thank you. I was looking for a friend of mine. I know the username but a search on that doesn't work. Buzzard (talk) 11:50, 15 May 2017 (EDT)
Ah well you found me, teach me to use the same user name in different places ... Seriously though those links from Frabby are really useful. I always use the User Scores page in the Awards section to find people. Dark Jaguar (talk) 16:33, 15 May 2017 (EDT)
Cheers, those links are also interesting. There is a lot of stuff to read up it seems. Buzzard (talk) 12:08, 17 May 2017 (EDT)

MechForce UK[edit]

Hi again, you mentioned that you've been a MechForce UK member back in the time. That's raised my attention, as I feel the MFUK and its products haven't been covered sufficiently deep here. So if you have anything to add to the MechForce United Kingdom or Comnet articles, or if you have any MFUK product/publication that is redlinked so far and could create the redlinked article - that would be awesome. Also, perhaps an article about Bob Nicholls should be written by someone who knew him, given that he's a pretty prominent character for the MFUK and thus, BattleTech.

Oh, by the way: Turns out I have the Inbound scenario pack myself, found it in my "have to do Sarna writeups on this" box... :) Frabby (talk) 07:26, 18 May 2017 (EDT)

Hi, I joined MFUK quite late, about 1999/2000. To be honest not that long before they folded, still have my membership card though. I have some stuff mostly from the membership pack. My friend got me to join and it was fun, especially liked the member rank system and the official battle scores. I didn't know Bob that well, actually I think I only met him once at a wargames con. so not sure I'd be the best to write about him, sorry. Buzzard (talk) 13:22, 31 May 2017 (EDT)

Poke![edit]

Are you still here? Dark Jaguar (talk) 06:30, 28 May 2017 (EDT)

yeah I'm still here ... now and then lol Buzzard (talk) 13:17, 31 May 2017 (EDT)
My god It lives! lol Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:01, 31 May 2017 (EDT)

Hessian Horseman[edit]

I've made a few edits, but this is my first full page article. Buzzard (talk) 13:30, 31 May 2017 (EDT)

Excellent start, I can't believe you finally posted something and a decent size article as well. That deserves a medal Random Act of Appreciation Award, 1st ribbon You'll need an Admin to set up a n awards board on your user page. Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:09, 31 May 2017 (EDT)
Isn't that the unit you based one of your merc commands on? I've given it a clean up and put it in the Sarna format for you, but isn't it Horsemen? Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:09, 31 May 2017 (EDT)
Thanks, but I'm not sure I deserve it as you're right it is Horsemen. I'm not sure waht to do as I clicked a red link in another page and it let me create the new one, but it had the wrong name and I didn't notice at the time. Can it be changed and how do you do it? Buzzard (talk) 12:01, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
You should move the article to the correct name (click "Move" in the same row where "Edit" appears). If you check the "keep redirect" box the wiki system will not only change the name, but also install a redirect pointer under the previous article name so whenever the old name is called the new page will come up. I could have done this, but I figured it's a great practical tutorial for you. :) Frabby (talk) 13:33, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
This link may be of help creating Mercenary Commands in the future. Dark Jaguar (talk) 05:56, 3 June 2017 (EDT)
Thank you both so much, sorry for messing up! I'll look at sorting it out now. Buzzard (talk) 08:03, 5 June 2017 (EDT)
Don't worry about it, everyone make mistakes when they join. I made several, but Doneve soon put me right! - Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:10, 5 June 2017 (EDT)

Corazon's Cossacks[edit]

My second article, hopefully this one is a little closer to the mark. Buzzard (talk) 10:41, 6 June 2017 (EDT)

Another small unit I like[edit]

Here is the 54th Combined Arms Combat Team. I modeled one of my mercenary companies on this unit. Buzzard (talk) 09:42, 8 June 2017 (EDT)

Doesn't time fly when you're having fun![edit]

It's already been a month since you joined, so don't forget to add your service award Time in Service (1 month) to your awards board. Smiley.gif - Dark Jaguar (talk) 05:42, 11 June 2017 (EDT)

Oh cool, thanks :-) I must read up a bit more on awards Buzzard (talk) 12:55, 13 June 2017 (EDT)

Halsten's Brigade[edit]

Another unit that I'm glad they wrote a stry about. Shreks as recon vehicles! lol Buzzard (talk) 12:35, 26 June 2017 (EDT)

New Video Ads[edit]

I have to say I hate the new Video Ads, right in the middle of a page they really make this site look poor! Buzzard (talk) 13:40, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

You need an Adblocker, but is that what is going on? I wondered why there were big gaps appearing in the text on pages. - Dark Jaguar (talk) 17:55, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
There was obviously an upgrade/change implemented a few days ago. As a registered user I didn't get ads, but now there are video ads popping up mid-article. It's mildly annoying, but I do realize that this is a free service by NicJ and I can't blame him for making some money with Sarna. Frabby (talk) 19:21, 21 July 2017 (EDT)
I don't mind anyone making money, but there are better places to put these, that being said they appear to have gone, possibly Buzzard (talk) 11:48, 11 August 2017 (EDT)
No I was wrong they are still there :( Buzzard (talk) 11:59, 11 August 2017 (EDT)

Vegan Thunder[edit]

Best name for a DropShip ever! lol Buzzard (talk) 13:44, 21 July 2017 (EDT)

Back![edit]

I'm back from lurking on the periphery. Hopefully I can add some stuff over the Easter hols Buzzard (talk) 13:55, 29 March 2018 (EDT)

Welcome back to the team! --Dmon (talk) 13:57, 29 March 2018 (EDT)
Thank you, I don't get too many opportunities but I try. Easter postings didn't happen what with the kids off of school. Buzzard (talk) 13:26, 11 April 2018 (EDT)
