Welcome[edit]

Welcome, ClanJF74017, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "ClanJF74017" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

Did my first article. I know it was a rough start but still learning the tricks of the trade. Looking forward to learning from people throughout this process.ClanJF74017 (talk) 10:32, 25 June 2016 (PDT)

It's all good; thanks for adding the article! It takes a while to remember all the little rules and ways to do things on a wiki. There's plenty of people around that will be able to correct/help you. Don't be discouraged and feel free to ask questions whenever. We could always use more people to add pages, just like you. See ya around!
P.S. The best way to learn how to write an article is to look at ones that are similar to what you're adding, in this case, you could look at the wikicode for other Clan military commands to get an idea of how to format it. -BobTheZombie (talk) 12:32, 25 June 2016 (PDT)
Just dropping in to give a personal welcome. Hi, and thank you for your contributions! We've all started out more or less clueless about wikicode, but you'll be almost subconsciously typing it in a few weeks' time - like we all did. :) Frabby (talk) 12:19, 26 June 2016 (PDT)
Thank you for the welcome. I can not wait to work with everyone. Are there any areas that really need help? Military Commands and Biographies I think are areas I can really work in. I have access to most novels of classic line, with a few exceptions. I have a few of the Mechwarrior line, as well as some of the mechawrrior dark age.ClanJF74017 (talk) 17:53, 26 June 2016 (PDT)
If you want to, you can look through this list of articles that need to be written and see if you have the resources to make an article over any of them. If you want to take a more direct approach you could ask ClanWolverine101 about what biographies need to be done or Dark Jaguar about what clan military units need pages. -BobTheZombie (talk) 18:47, 26 June 2016 (PDT)

Nega Garrison Cluster[edit]

Good spot on a little know unit, with only one novel reference by name. If you need any help just ask, keep up the good work. Smiley.gif Dark Jaguar (talk) 13:03, 25 June 2016 (PDT)

--Now that the article has been done how do the links for to make tie-in? Because I notice on the Aidan Pryde page... the Cluster is mentioned but the page does not exist?ClanJF74017 (talk) 19:17, 25 June 2016 (PDT)
You had the right idea, but the link has to have the exact wording of the page you want (in this instance the "cluster" was left out). It was no problem, I fixed it. -BobTheZombie (talk) 22:28, 25 June 2016 (PDT)
Yes links must have the exact text of the page it is linking to or it will not work. There is a way to put a page link with other text, if you look to see how the code of this link works - ClanJF74017's first article. Hope that helps a little. Smiley.gif Dark Jaguar (talk) 01:41, 26 June 2016 (PDT)
Thank you to both of you. I am learning more each day.ClanJF74017 (talk) 12:08, 26 June 2016 (PDT)
No problem! Something that I found helpful when I started out was going on pages and messing with things and then hitting "preview" instead of save; this allows you to see exactly what the outcome is when you change things, without permanently saving it. Sometimes images and charts can be pretty confusing, so that's where this could be helpful. And as always, feel free to work as much or as little as you like; take it all at your own pace. -BobTheZombie (talk) 18:40, 26 June 2016 (PDT)

Angela Bekker[edit]

Upcoming Purchases[edit]

Planning on investing some money in more books, one of many things I am going to do is complete my novel runs. I may try get some of the battlecorps stuff. I am hoping to find some source books, are there any reccommended? Particular interests are the Clans and mercenary units.ClanJF74017 (talk) 15:35, 30 June 2016 (PDT)

I don't know any recommendations in particular but one could take a look at this gigantic list of pages that need to be updated via various sources. This list is simply a link to all the pages that use the "update needed" template, which includes the name of a source that has more info on the article at hand. Long story short, that list always needs lots of help. Generally there seems to be enough people adding stuff from the very newest books so perhaps brushing up some of the lesser known/forgotten/neglected/older books on that list and adding things from them would help the most. As usual, the admins or the older guys here would be able to help you more than I can. -BobTheZombie (talk) 17:11, 30 June 2016 (PDT)
Thank your for info.ClanJF74017 (talk) 19:38, 1 July 2016 (PDT)
I might be able to track down a more helpful breakdown of those pages but that's the best I can do for now. -BobTheZombie (talk) 10:55, 2 July 2016 (PDT)
The field manuals are a treasure trove of knowledge. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 20:51, 2 July 2016 (PDT)
I will look into those. I appreciate the info.ClanJF74017 (talk) 22:20, 2 July 2016 (PDT)

Rachel McCloud[edit]

CJF - Good work on starting Rachel McCloud. One thing - can you check the formatting of the reference tags? I just went back in and corrected them, but we'd like them to be consistent with other articles. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 20:49, 23 July 2016 (PDT)

I will work on that. Still a learning process. ClanJF74017 (talk) 00:55, 24 July 2016 (PDT)
Hi CJF, I've added a few lines to the article including several of the missing references. Dark Jaguar (talk) 18:33, 26 July 2016 (PDT)
