List of Ships by Class[edit]

Hi Dark Jaguar,
I like the work you're doing creating new WarShip articles here and fleshing out the Smoke Jaguar touman. I just wanted to mention that a couple of mistakes have crept in when you've been adding ships to the main WarShip articles; the articles reflect who the last known owner of a WarShip was. In the case of the Osis' Pride as an example, during the Wars of Reaving the Osis' Pride was encountered by the Ice Hellions and ended up an Ice Hellion possession. The Ice Hellion survivors then later merged into the Goliath Scorpions, leaving the Osis' Pride as a Goliath Scorpion WarShip - hence it's listing on the Potemkin page under the Goliath Scorpions. There were a huge number of changes to ship ownership in the Jihad and the Wars of Reaving, so it's worth checking the individual ship articles to see who the last listed owner is rather than adding a ship to the list twice.
Keep up the good work - I'm looking forward to learning more about some of the Smoke Jaguar ships. I'm not convinced that the Simas Osis isn't a mistake on the author's part - the writer has the Korat, Azov and Ripper escape the Inner Sphere with Delta Galaxy, has the Azov and Ripper being given battle orders, and then the Simas Osis suddenly pops up in the description of the battle having not been mentioned before. I'm wondering if it was an earlier name for one of the ships that got swapped in by mistake... BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:25, 6 October 2013 (PDT)
ETA: Oh, I need to move your Ripper article from Ripper (Individual WarShip) to Ripper (Vincent) because there's another WarShip out there with the name Ripper - a destroyer that fought in the battle that destroyed the Bolson Shipyards in the 1st Succession War - and as we know the class for the Smoke Jaguar WarShip, it's easier to move that one from (Vessel) to (Vincent). BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:26, 6 October 2013 (PDT)

Thank you. I am inclined to agree regarding the Simas Osis, however it is a named vessel and as such (I think) deserves a reference and an attempt to explain the "mistake".

Great Start[edit]

I've noticed and really like all the pages you've added to and worked on, and think that you're getting off on a great start, so here is an all purpose award All Purpose Award, 1st ribbon for all your hard work right out of the gate. These new articles you made barely need editing, and for that, you deserve this most. Keep up the good work!

P.S. An admin will have to set up your awards board for you. -BobTheZombie (talk) 06:11, 6 October 2013 (PDT)

Thank you, that's very kind Dark Jaguar

New Bios[edit]

I noticed the new biography articles you have been adding; they've been missing an overview at the top with the years (b. ???? - d. ????) and a short summary. See Morgan Kell for an example of what I mean. We strive for consistency here, and that one little thing can help make those articles better and more standardized. -BobTheZombie (talk) 18:05, 10 October 2013 (PDT)

I have added two Bios for minor characters the dates are not given in any source material I have seen. putting ???? just seems a little pointless - but if that's is the standard I will do it.Dark Jaguar
I understand where you are coming from... the purpose of that is to let people know that the years are missing and to add them if the info exists; you can also usually narrow down the millenia (3???) or the century (31??) to help vaguely describe it. -BobTheZombie (talk) 18:28, 10 October 2013 (PDT)
OK that's a fair point. I've changed the ones I have done now. Sorry I really am trying to follow the templates. Dark Jaguar
You're perfectly fine; there's a lot of things to remember when starting off, and you are doing a good job regardless. Editing here is a learning experience, so don't feel bad about that. Stay at it, and you'll be okay Wink.gif. -BobTheZombie (talk) 18:50, 10 October 2013 (PDT)
Thanks Smiley.gif Dark Jaguar
And my motto is talk talk talk when some is unclear, i had hard teachers Revanche and Scaletail.--Doneve (talk) 19:40, 10 October 2013 (PDT)
Always happy to talk Smiley.gif Dark Jaguar

Project Military Commands[edit]

Hy, when you add new military command articles can you added the project template to the talk page, look here BattleTechWiki:Project Military Commands.--Doneve (talk) 13:21, 17 October 2013 (PDT)

Yes I was just reading that and trying to figure out how find the talk page for a unit -- Dark Jaguar (talk) 13:23, 17 October 2013 (PDT)
sorted it now Smiley.gif - Dark Jaguar (talk) 13:42, 17 October 2013 (PDT)

Paul Moon[edit]

Hi Dark Jaguar. This is part of the what Herb had said among the of the BattleChat Herb had done. He said the ending of Surrender Your Dreams was being subject to Retrocon due to the new direction the franchise is going with. Estiablly, Paul Moon's passing was during a time where arguably the Republic of the Sphere transformed and with Fidelis's help reclaimed the old Republic worlds and released the Fidelis from service. Upcoming IlClan sourcebook is suppose to clear up what happened detail. As for my changes, since herb as Line Developer said that Surrender Your Dream's last chapters were up in the air. Unfortunately (i don't like it either) ending of the book and future era is now in doubt. Here the Battlechat 20 April 2013 in Question regarding this Issue. -- (talk) 13:20, 19 October 2013 (PDT)

Anytime DJ. I hope your able keep up with whats going on. Though i'm not crazy about some of the changes, as long as CGL loves the game as much as we do. We'll have merry old time playing and read what happens with this game. Talk to you later! -- Wrangler (talk) 13:46, 19 October 2013 (PDT)

Source of logos[edit]

Hi Dark Jaguar, I'm amazed about the logos for the Clan Smoke Jaguar units. I have two question's:

1st - Can you tell me your source?
2nd - Can you provide us with all the missing logos for the galaxies?

Tnx and with best regards Neuling (talk) 14:28, 19 October 2013 (PDT)

Battle of Luthien[edit]

Hy, i think this links Category:Places and Geography of Luthien help you to add location links to the article.--Doneve (talk) 13:01, 27 October 2013 (PDT)

Hi, Yes you are right, that will improve it. I'll start to add them in. Smiley.gif --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:00, 27 October 2013 (PDT)
I've added geographic links and relevant pictures from the source book. I think is looking pretty good now. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:17, 29 October 2013 (PDT)
Yeah, i looks great with the pictures Smiley.gif.--Doneve (talk) 14:49, 29 October 2013 (PDT)

Clan unit name issue[edit]

Good day sir, I noticed that some of the Clan unit articles are named strangely, e.g., 18th Assault (Clan Coyote); in this case, the logical name for it would be "18th Assault Cluster (Clan Coyote)". Do you think that should it be changed, or is there a reason for the current naming? -BobTheZombie (talk) 17:13, 30 October 2013 (PDT)

I had noticed this as well. A lot of the units are missing the word Cluster. The only one I feel that are not are the "Regulars" - I have not (as far as I an remember) seen a Regulars unit described as for example 18th Clan-name Regulars Cluster. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 12:11, 31 October 2013 (PDT)
I saw the official response, but I have to say to me it seems like part of the actual official name is missing. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 12:41, 31 October 2013 (PDT)
Yeah, I agree; it was just some OCD-like thinking on my part and I have other projects I need to work on. Maybe it can be brought up again later. -BobTheZombie (talk) 14:31, 31 October 2013 (PDT)
Guys - I see both of your points. To be honest, it bothered me as well when i joined the site. But since its become the standard practice, i'm okay with it. The word "Cluster" can be considered redundant. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 10:51, 2 November 2013 (PDT)

Plagiarism Concerns[edit]

DJ - Respectfully, huge portions of the content you added to the Battle of Luthien were plagiarised directly from the book. Please remove that material. Thank you. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 10:49, 2 November 2013 (PDT)

Which bits? I copied that piece from a file that has been knocking around on various computers I've had for the last 10+ years, I know the hourly break downs were copied in the original book but they have been altered. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 11:00, 2 November 2013 (PDT)
DJ - Again respectfully - I have the original book right in front of me. 90+ percent of it is word for word copied. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 11:19, 2 November 2013 (PDT)
I never said it wasn't copied, I said I was unsure which bits as it is from an old file. I tried to check the opening pieces and could not see a match to a specific section. I am happy to work on it to change it. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:24, 2 November 2013 (PDT)
I have reworded the entire document. Please take a look. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 17:06, 2 November 2013 (PDT)
I appreciate that. I'll refer the admins to it, and let them decide. Thanks. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 03:31, 3 November 2013 (PST)
I'm happy to keep working on it, if they still think its too close to the original. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 03:36, 3 November 2013 (PST)

Clan Smoke Jaguar Work[edit]

Hi Dark Jaguar,
I appreciate the work you've been doing on updating the various units of the Clan Smoke Jaguar touman, particularly the WarShip articles, which are becoming something of a pet hobby of mine. I particularly appreciate the way you've dug into the novels to confirm information where the sourcebooks are a tad lacking. I noticed on your projects list that you'd marked the project as done, and I definitely think that deserves an award; as such, I'd like to give you your first Appreciation Award:
Random Act of Appreciation Award, 1st ribbon
Thanks again! BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:01, 3 November 2013 (PST)

Thank you Smiley.gif I've added every Cluster I can find with as much info as I can find, but there is always room to add a little more. I want to do a bit more work on the WarShips and other naval assets of the Clan as well. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 03:18, 3 November 2013 (PST)
Looking around it looks like the other Clans could use a hand with their Clusters Smiley.gif --Dark Jaguar (talk) 10:51, 10 November 2013 (PST)
Just found a Galaxy I never knew existed - rather happy with that Smiley.gif --Dark Jaguar (talk) 10:47, 17 November 2013 (PST)
I like it when that happens - there's something really satisfying about finding a reference to a new WarShip I've never heard of, or a new planet somewhere in the Periphery Smiley.gif BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:04, 18 November 2013 (PST)

Atreus[edit]

Hy DJ, i added some tag pipes to the new galaxy and manufacturing center article, you links refers to the FWL planet Atreus not to the Clan planet.--Doneve (talk) 11:41, 17 November 2013 (PST)

Hi Doneve, thanks I noticed you had done this. That's always a problem with so many things called the same name is remembering to check if there are others! Smiley.gif --Dark Jaguar (talk) 11:55, 17 November 2013 (PST)

Year pages[edit]

Hi, i see your contributions to 1964 and 1965 please read this Policy:Year Pages, every entry must have a link to a page if not your edits where removed.--Doneve (talk) 10:33, 22 November 2013 (PST)

I've added a link. To be honest all the hundreds of empty year pages are totally pointless. At least the early ones can provide some educational use. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 10:50, 22 November 2013 (PST)
I know, iam also not a fan of emty year pages, user DerangedShadow created the most of the emptys.--Doneve (talk) 11:53, 22 November 2013 (PST)

Please take alook[edit]

Hello Dark Jaguar, please take a look at the page 163 in the The Wars of Reaving. There you will find that the Clan Cloud Cobra Command includes only the Cobra Pharaoh Keshik, Alpha Reserve + Beta Reserve. Nothing more nothing less. Neuling (talk) 14:29, 1 December 2013 (PST)

I merely simplified what was already there, but its an easy edit. I have also simplified your overly wide tables so they actually display correctly. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:43, 1 December 2013 (PST)

Opinion sought[edit]

Hello, Dark Jaguar. Can you pop over to here? I'm trying get official opinion of this. Thanks -- Wrangler (talk) 19:44, 5 December 2013 (PST)

Lion Guard[edit]

Hello, Dark Jaguar. Sorry for the delay. I find only the Iron Guard cluster type in the Wars of Reaving sourcebook. You can ask the developer or writer about that topic,if you will. Neuling (talk) 08:57, 9 December 2013 (PST)

Thanks, I didn't have my copy of War of Reaving when I asked. My friend has returned it now, and yes Iron Guard is what is printed. It just struck me as a little odd at the time! --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:33, 9 December 2013 (PST)

Porthos[edit]

On the Porthos Page you pulled off the 2822 ownership history from Liberation of Terra Volume 2. That book is off moratorium now since it was released in April, right? Also the 3030 reference isn't from House Kurita (The Draconis Combine) there. That book is a 3025 reference. I'm reverting it back and fixing up the reference to LoTv2. Crduemling (talk) 16:16, 15 December 2013 (PST)

I never touched the 2822 entry, and am not sure about the moratorium on it. The 3030 entry is irrelevant anyway as the designation doesn't change between 3025 and 3040 --Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:15, 16 December 2013 (PST)

Award[edit]

Hi, I am a long time user (viewer) of this site for information that I can not get elsewhere. I have noticed you are one of the few to actively add useful information to the site. I particularly liked your recent articles on clusters and galaxies of the Blood Spirits. This type of unit information is exactly the sort of material I use this site for. I would like to nominate you for an award as a thank you from an appreciative user. Substantial Addition Award, 1st ribbon --Insidiator (talk) 08:46, 17 December 2013 (PST)

Thank you very much, that is very kind. It's nice to feel appreciated. Thank you. Smiley.gif --Dark Jaguar (talk) 17:29, 19 December 2013 (PST)

The Ties That Bind[edit]

Wow. That's seriously cool stuff, never would have known this existed. I'll definitely have to check this out very thoroughly. Can you provide me with a scan of the story? Frabby (talk) 13:45, 5 January 2014 (PST)

I found the magazine today while cleaning up my place. GU ran a series of short BT stories as well as articles on 'Mechs, Ships etc. The edition with this story had a piece about the Colossus DropShip and Drawings for Hatamoto 'Mech variants. No problem scanning it for you, I'm rather busy this week with work but can get you a copy by next weekend. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 13:55, 5 January 2014 (PST)
Actually, if it's not too much asked, I'd like a complete rundown of BT articles/stories in that magazine. Sarna really needs an article about BT articles in magazines that weren't either dedicated BattleTech publications or FASA/FanPro house magazines. Frabby (talk) 14:38, 5 January 2014 (PST)
Unfortunately I don't know a lot, I certainly didn't buy each issue. What I do know I have put Here. I'll expand it if I can, hope this helps. --Dark Jaguar (talk) 14:46, 5 January 2014 (PST)
Still, great stuff. I've put a query about that magazine on the BT forum. Let's see if something comes of it. Frabby (talk) 00:20, 6 January 2014 (PST)

MechForce UK[edit]

Thanks for putting some meat to the bones here, and in the ComNet (Comnet?) article. Have an award for this, and for bringing The Ties That Bind to my attention! Frabby (talk) 04:26, 27 January 2014 (PST) Substantial Addition Award, 2nd ribbon

Wow thank you very much Smiley.gif I'm trying to put some more info together, but I wanted to get something put up. I'm going to have a good look to see if I can find any other Comnets hidden in my junk! --Dark Jaguar (talk) 12:46, 27 January 2014 (PST)
I've only just found out that "my junk" in the US is rude! It's far more innocent in the UK. Dark Jaguar (talk) 15:56, 28 May 2016 (PDT)
