Welcome[edit]

Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Deeppockets, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Deeppockets" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

*******Be Bold*******

Sign[edit]

As a courtesy for other editors, it is a BattleTechWiki guideline to sign your talk page and user talk page posts. To do so simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date will be automatically added along with a timestamp. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info see the talk page guidelines. Thank you.

Welcome and Great Job[edit]

Sorry I haven't met you sooner, but you seem to have taken to BTW like a duck to, well, the standard cliche for doing well. Your bios today have been interesting reads and are well formatted (especially for a newcomer). Let me be the first to present you with the All Purpose Award for your efforts. I've also added the Edit Count Award (with 2 triangles for 300 edits) and the Time In Service Award (for 1 month here):

All Purpose Award, 1st ribbonEdit Count (300)Time in Service (1 month)

I've added them to your user page, but feel free to place them where ever you find appropriate. Also, its up to you to keep your last two ribbons updated (as your service time and edit numbers increase). Welcome! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 00:30, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Richard Calderon (1) and Richard Calderon (2)[edit]

Dear Deeppockets, is there a better naming convection for these two characters? This names don't seem to fit with the rest of the site, but Richard Calderon (2) never ruled, so RC I and RC II seem to not be good, either. Just wondering RE: your thoughts--S.gage 15:39, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

There are now at least 3 Richard Calderons in cannon sources. The Age of War (first?) Richard, the father of Star League Era Protector Consuelo Calderon Richard, and this last one from the Civil War Era Richard.Deeppockets 04:58, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Year Pages[edit]

Hy thanks for your Taurian Concordate and bio. articles :), pleas take a look on the Policy:Year Pages, there are no references listed in the year pages, the answer is in the policy, good work.--Doneve 20:00, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Group W[edit]

Hy again, please put this All Purpose Award, 2nd ribbon Award on your page, for your great work about Group W.--Doneve 22:44, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Zarantha Calderon[edit]

Hey Deeppockets - Good work setting up the stub. One thing, though - I would suggest moving your "Notes" section as written to the article's discussion page. You can then rewrite any factual conclusions to the article itself in consistent format. Just an idea to maintain the same approach to all articles. What do you think? Thanks and welcome again! Taurian Concordaut Characters[edit]

Deeppockets - Well done on getting some articles up for TC characters. I realize it can be challenging, as the info on those paranoid Taurians is incomplete. For that, I give you the Random Act of Appreciation Award. Random Act of Appreciation Award, 1st ribbon ClanWolverine101 03:37, 3 July 2010 (UTC) p.s. Regarding the awards on user page, its standard practice just to list the most recent ribbon, so in the case of your all-purpose award, you'd just list the 2nd. Just an fyi.

Thanks still new to the wiki...I need to know these things!Deeppockets 22:16, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Taurian Concordat naming suggestion[edit]

Hello Deeppockets, i had noticed your naming conventions are little differient from rest of Sarna.net. You have Richard Calderon Age of War etc after names. Sarna characters which have conflicting (similar names) end up having a roman numerial (I, II, III, etc) put after it. Makes it less cluttered. Thats what they did with Thaddeus Marik. I would recommend moving your character names to that instead of era thing attached to their names. -- Wrangler 11:08, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback! It is good to know some few are watching. I would, however, like to direct your atention to the disscussion page of Richard Calderon, Age of War and my rational behind how I crafted it. Please feel free to correct any stylistic errors to bring my efforts into line with this Wiki's standards.Deeppockets 11:20, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Plagiarism[edit]

I saw on Taurian-Canopian War that one phrase you added was copied verbatim from Handbook: Major Periphery States. Per BattleTechWiki:Copyrights, all content you add to BattleTechWiki must be your own, so that you can give it away. By copying and reusing text from a published source, you have plagiarized copyrighted material that is not yours to give away. It is extremely important that content from published sources not be used on BTW, because doing so could make BTW vulnerable to lawsuits.

I have also located plagiarized text on Zarantha Calderon. Both articles have been tagged accordingly. I do not have access to all of the books you used, so I am asking you to please remove or rewrite all plagiarized content that you added to the wiki. I thank you for your urgent attention to this matter. --Scaletail 00:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

GOOD to see someone working around here! heh...joking. Yes I did and I did cite, reworded to comply with wiki standards.03:09, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Style Issue : Italics[edit]

Deeppockets - In keeping with a consistent style, could you please refrain from using italics to emphasize words in an actual article? Its just an aesthetic issue that others will have to cleanup later. Thanks. ClanWolverine101 05:07, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Per BattleTechWiki:Manual of Style, either italics or boldface are acceptable with regards to emphasis. --Scaletail 23:59, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
yes I know...which was confusing me some, I had seen italic used on other pages and was trying to figure why my use was not applicaple! Heh NM then, I'll put them back in later if I feel that they are truly needed.Deeppockets 00:14, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Taurian Concordaut Characters, Update[edit]

IT IS DONE!! All rulers, regents, assorted persons and events of significance to the Taurian Concordat(prior to 3060) have been named, paged and referenced! WHEW that took longer that I thought it would but real life jumped up in the way. So SO cool! heh.Deeppockets 22:57, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Duely noted and well done. Good self-promotion, too, on advertising the completion of your efforts. Sometimes you have to say "Look at what I did", so that people don't get complacent or caught up in only their own efforts. For adding significantly to the Taurian Concordat-related materials on BTW, I grant you the Substantial Addition Award.

Job well done. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Fanon Notice[edit]

Noted and understood. I have managed to save one canon, my Culverin, and have yet to find the time to properly load the rest to the personal page.Deeppockets 11:25, 3 July 2012 (PDT)

Thank You[edit]

I am honored that the leaders of this wiki would consider my contributions worthy of the Founders Award. I regret that I have not been able to return to complete my other projects due to my work hours but I have at last returned to my regular schedule. I hope to begin adding to this wiki more pages about the Prephiery (and whining about what they are doing to my beloved and beleaguered Taurian Concordat). Thank you all for reading and editing my pages PLEASE keep letting me know when I get it wrong!Deeppockets 11:53, 3 July 2012 (PDT)
