Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Deusduce2, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Deusduce2" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

Sign talk posts[edit]

As a courtesy for other editors, it is a BattleTechWiki guideline to sign your talk page and user talk page posts. To do so simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date will be automatically added along with a timestamp. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info see the talk page guidelines. Thastas[edit]

Just wondering on your source for your change from "Thustas" due to the source I used Historical: Operation KLONDIKE (p. 36, "Origins of the Bloodnames: The Clans' Founders"). Which to my knowledge is the source for all bloodnames used by the clans as the erratum to any prior books. Is there a errata to that source? --Deadfire (talk) 07:06, 20 June 2016 (PDT)

This was a spelling change of "Thustas" to "Thastus." There is no mention of anyone with the last name "Thustas," please reference pg. 36 Historical: Operation Klondike. deusduce2 18:29, 26 June 2016 (PDT)

Hellcat (Hellhound II)[edit]

Because Recognition Guide: ilClan, vol. 30 is under moratorium until 20 March 2023, I deleted the article you created for the Hellcat (Hellhound II) as well as the image that was uploaded. Once the moratorium has passed, new content should be added rather than a copy of the Conjurer (Hellhound) article.--Cache (talk) 17:31, 31 January 2023 (EST)

Name changes[edit]

I have just had a look at Thus It Shall Stand and as far as I can tell the word Nova does not appear in the story at all. Could you please enlighten me as to why you are changing the names on Clan 'Mechs?--Dmon (talk) 04:15, 16 February 2023 (EST)

The name of the Clan mech is the Nova, and was only given the designation of "Black Hawk" because its real name was initially unknown. The Wiki, as an out-of-universe source has changed the "default" designation to the original Clan name. This clears up inconsistencies and assists new players in using the correct names for the initial waves of Clan 'Mechs. Deusduce2 (talk) 04:22, 16 February 2023 (EST)
The name that is to be used is the one used in the story.--Dmon (talk) 04:34, 16 February 2023 (EST)
No one is debating that. I'm adding additional clarification in the case of the first waves of Clan 'Mechs where two names are given. Users who are new to the in-game universe will not "automatically" know what mech a Black Hawk is. The page for the mech is also listed as Nova (Black Hawk). Deusduce2 (talk) 04:39, 16 February 2023 (EST)
We use the name refered to in the story for pretty much the same reason as you are arguing against it. If a new player is reading the story they are going to be reading about a Black Hawk, and at no point does the fact that it is called a Nova with Black Hawk as an inner sphere designation ever come up. So to mention it without context will simply confuse the reader. As such I am going to re-revert your edit, please do not continue with this seties of edits.--Dmon (talk) 06:37, 16 February 2023 (EST)
