User talk:FIVE-one

Welcome[edit]

Thanks for your help with the Clan 'Mech articles. If you decide to stick around and help everyone out some more, please sign up over at Project BattleMechs. You may also want to introduce yourself at the new user log. --Scaletail 10:03, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Ordinarily, when someone leaves a message, you respond wherever it is. For instance, since I left your message here on your talk page, you should respond here as well. Since you're a n00b, I'll forgive you ;). You certainly did a fine job with the articles you started, so I guess you can teach yourself, which is a good thing. Perhaps my one request is to leave to Battle Value parameters in place so that nobody has to re-add them later. Other than that, remember to sign in (both so that you can get credit and we know it's you when you sign).
As a courtesy for other Editors, it is a BattleTechWiki guideline to sign your talk page and user talk page posts. To do so simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments; you can also use the 3rd button on the left of the edit bar (Signature icon.png) to automatically place it in the location of your cursor. Your user name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date will be automatically added along with a timestamp. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). For further info see the talk page guidelines. Thank you.
(you seem to have figured this out, but I'll leave it here for your reference)
If you have anything else you'd like to know, check Help:Contents. If that doesn't help, leave a message for me at my talk page or for all admins and I/we will try to help ASAP. I learned most of what I know here by judiciously hitting the "edit" button, and seeing what other people had done.
And, yes, the Clans are alive and well here. I think most of us are freebirths, but that doesn't mean they can't get some love, too. --Scaletail 14:55, 6 December 2007 (CST)
Ok, I'll keep it in mind ;) thanks of your forgivness :p

I also forgot to let the battle value blank, and I saw I did a mistake when reading the "how to" page, but you already put the value. I will also add my signature in both entries, but I dunno how to log in... 88.123.75.238 15:12, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Ack! Don't sign articles, only talk pages. Sorry for being unclear. --Scaletail 15:27, 6 December 2007 (CST)
Oh lol ! Really I'm sorry, I thought I had to ! ROFL !
FIVE-one, welcome to BTW. To log-in, click on the log in link at the top leftof the page. Typein your name and password and I'd uggest clicking the box to auto-log in for the future. Cheers. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 15:49, 6 December 2007 (CST)

Stone Rhino Page[edit]

Kodiak Page[edit]

I was reviewing this entry when I discovered this 'Mech has been refered as a non-exclusive Clan Ghost Bear 'Mech (Cloud Cobra BattleMechs | Ghost Bear BattleMechs | Goliath Scorpion BattleMechs | Ice Hellion BattleMechs | Snow Raven BattleMechs) but, as a Clan player, and a Ghost Bear partisan, this 'Mech is a Ghost Bear totem 'Mech. So it's weird to my opinion for this 'Mech to be considered as producted in other Clans... I might be wrong but from my experience I've never heard about this 'Mech to be producted in other Clans... --FIVE-one 14:02, 13 December 2007 (CST)

The reason it was categorized this way is because it is usable by those factions according to Combat Operations. See the discussion I started on BattleTechWiki talk:Project BattleMechs. --Scaletail 21:41, 13 December 2007 (CST)

"Unseens"[edit]

I wish to add pictures for every "Unseens" designs (as Warhammer IIC), cause since TRO:PP, some 'Mechs have a totaly new look with a few look like the ancient. So I thought it would be nice to show the new look side by side with the ancient. --FIVE-one 14:09, 10 January 2008 (CST)

Great! Just be careful about how they end up situated in the page, as the InfoBox for most 'Mech articles takes up the entirety of the right side. --Scaletail 14:49, 10 January 2008 (CST)
I thought a great place would be beneath the original picture. --FIVE-one 14:54, 10 January 2008 (CST)

Edit summaries[edit]

I ask you as a user, not as an admin, to please be kind to all users in edit summaries and don't single anybody out. Nobody is perfect and everybody makes mistakes, myself included. If you believe something can be done better, please bring up a mention of it on the article or user's talk page. Everybody's constructive edits are welcome, even if they are not perfect, because it all helps BTW. Thanks! --Scaletail 21:57, 30 April 2008 (CDT)

Understood, but my meant was to, when editing something already well done, don't erase a reference (as a category listing already well done) without checking what is being erased (I'm thinking about the "Clan" word erased on some article that didn't needed to be erased from a category like "Category : Clan Wolf Battlemechs" or "Clan "name of the clan" Battlemechs.). Also, those article were complete already (like the Ursus article) and were given the useless edit too. --FIVE-one 13:17, 1 May 2008 (CDT)
I understand what you're saying, and I appreciate you changing the edits back. I would like to point out that it was at least partly my fault as I created those categories without realizing that other ones were intended (without the "Clan" in the title) on the BattleMech portal. --Scaletail 15:30, 1 May 2008 (CDT)
I searched the category list and I didn't noticed those category without "Clan" mention so its why I was so amazed. Anyway the problem is resolved, and I'll be able to add new articles this evening as I add new TROs for my birthday. --FIVE-one 02:46, 2 May 2008 (CDT)

Unit naming conventions[edit]

I noticed some article being edited conforming the the "Clan units naming Convention". I tryied to find the convention, but failed. The reason was I saw some clusters (such as XXX Battle Cluster) had their name changed, deleting "Cluster" in the name of those articles. The problem is those clusters, especialy Battle and Assault Clusters, are always referred with their full name, including the word Cluster. I'd like to discuss about this on the "convention" topic. --FIVE-one 12:54, 29 April 2009 (PDT)

BattleTechWiki talk:Project Military Commands is where the format was was discussed/decided. Cyc 15:27, 29 April 2009 (PDT)

Welcome back![edit]

Nice to see someone coming back even after years of absence (seeing how your last edits were made in 2009)! Glad to have you back on board, especially considering that MW:DA/AoD seems a tad bit underrepresented here on BTW.

I saw you put an item "new images for the unseen" on your to-do list. Please keep in mind that the classic unseen images are still the canonically true images for these 'Mechs; any re-seen art represents additional variants. You're thus welcome to add new art to the articles, but do not remove unseen art. Being non-affiliated with CGL and a non-commercial site that can even claim fair use on other IPs has its advantages - in this case, that Sarna BTW can make full use of the unseen. :) Frabby (talk) 03:22, 4 December 2012 (PST)

Sorry for the late reply. I spent most time on Sarna.net unlogged and didn't noticed the kind words. Thanks for the message.
I'll try to take the work where it has been left and add some art as variants, in the lower part of the articles. For now I'm mostly struggling getting DA/AoD stuff together as most of the material has been lost with Wizkids site takedown. I also noticed some dossiers are missing in the "downloads" part of the site. FIVE-one (talk) 10:03, 23 June 2020 (EDT)
