Welcome[edit]

Welcome, James Benedict, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "James Benedict" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

Forever Faithful Updates[edit]

Hello. The novel, Forever Faithful, is under moratorium until April 23rd, 2019. I have removed your update of Clan Goliath Scorpion with information from that source. It can be added again after the moratorium has passed.--Cache (talk) 12:34, 10 March 2019 (EDT)

OK, I wasn't aware of that since I am new at it. The Goliath Scorpion page sorely needs updating since there is now interest in that Clan due to Blaine's book. I just had some time this morning to start working on it. I'll repost after April 23. Thanks!--James Benedict (talk) 12:59, 10 March 2019 (EDT)
Thank you. I pulled the Rife Nagy information as well. If you wish, after the moratorium has passed you can just undo my revision of the article rather than rewriting. (Assuming someone doesn't beat you to it.)--Cache (talk) 13:33, 10 March 2019 (EDT)
Hey James, I missed this the first time around, I just want to say that despite the Moratorium issue your edits are some of the best "first time editor" work I have ever seen. Thank you.--Dmon (talk) 05:04, 26 April 2019 (EDT)
Thanks! I've been playing Battletech and MechWarrior for over 30 years now and know the material well. I've also used Sarna as a resource for as long as it has been in existence and am familiar with its format. I'll try to do some other updates whenever I have some free time moving forward. --James Benedict (talk) 06:31, 26 April 2019 (EDT)
Welcome to the team then!--Dmon (talk) 06:43, 26 April 2019 (EDT)
Yo man, Just a quick one on the monster update you dropped on the Goliath Scorpion article, two things but it kinda merges into one, Not against the rules but we don't do section headers in the way you have (The Events of 'Forever Faithful,' 3060-3064) as it kinda restricts information from other sources being worked in, and the second one is the page numbers in perenthasis, again, only work if work is restricted to one source. Without checking your other stuff do you know how to reference properly or you need a hand?--Dmon (talk) 16:26, 28 April 2019 (EDT)
Yeah, the section header seemed like a good way to designate the new material as coming from the sole source 'Forever Faithful,' and also because it fits neatly between the concluding Great Refusal mention in the previous paragraph and then 3068, where the Scorpions' story picks back up again with the Eridani Light Horse absorption. Other than Blaine, I honestly don't think anyone will ever add anything else to that four-year period since the Goliath Scorpions were otherwise inactive, but if the header needs to go away, I don't have a problem with that. I'm just used to writing in cohesive chapters to keep things organized. Moreover, Randall, Blaine, Ray and the other CGL writers and devs have signaled that they will be looking forward in progressing the overall master narrative past the Dark Ages into the IlClan era and not looking back to the post-Clan Invasion-Jihad-Wars of Reaving periods, so its unlikely that any further material on the Scorpions during the 3060s will ever be produced. If so, then it will undoubtedly focus on the post-3080 Escorpion Imperio storyline, such as it is. Concerning the numbers in parenthesis, they are only temporary--I actually dropped a note into the page discussion stating that I intend to come back soon to turn them into proper reference citations. I can probably figure out how to do it myself, but any help or shortcuts in so doing will be greatly appreciated. I just spent all day writing the piece and did not feel like wrestling with the citations tonight. James Benedict (talk) 07:28, 28 April 2019 (EDT)

Clan Goliath Scorpion BattleMechs‎‎ Category[edit]

Hi James. I sent you a reply about the issue with two of the Jade Falcon mechs you mentioned. I agree they weren't part of the Scorpions list of mechs they usually use. Just bear in mind that the Categories aren't intended as definitive lists, their more a tag from individual articles about those mechs. I'm uncertain why someone throught they were a principle mech of the Clan. We'd need double check where they got the sources from. -- Wrangler (talk) 00:01, 27 April 2019 (EDT)

Afternoon, James Benedict. Which of those 3 links best supports the subject of your entry (I'm guessing Scorpion Empire)? The years policy limits entries to one link, so that readers can immediately read up on whatever the subject is.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 15:15, 14 June 2021 (EDT)
