Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Mage, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Mage" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

References[edit]

Hi Mage, welcome to Sarna! I wanted to point out the changes I made to your latest updates, to make it easier for you when editing in the future. First, when putting product titles in references, they should be in italics (surrounded by two apostrophes) and not bold (three apostrophes). E.g. Use ''Field Report: AFFS'' = Field Report: AFFS, and not '''Field Report: AFFS''' = Field Report: AFFS. Next, including page numbers in references is important. Others may need verify the data, and having the search narrowed to the page is helpful. Also, I switched repeated references over to a more advanced method that only lists the ref once in the references section. That's something other editors can do if you don't quite understand how, but details are here: Help:References#Second_Detailed_Method. Listing the source is the important part. Thank you! --Cache (talk) 17:22, 10 January 2022 (EST)

Battles[edit]

Hey Mage, Just looking through your work on the First Federated Suns Lancers article, nice work! I am not a writer myself so I love to see people do things I can't. Depending on your specific area of interest with your writing, I thought I would also point you in the direction of Category:Fourth Succession War Era Military Operations, we do not currently have a Battle of Nashira (3039), but it could be the perfect place to go into more detail on the battle as Military Command articles already have a lot wedged into them.--Dmon (talk) 09:21, 25 January 2022 (EST)

Fantastic work on the Nashira article, I have done some minor changes, Mostly taking out the commands listed next to the commanders names, I think it just clutters up the infobox. The other minor one was moving the (attacker / defender) tags to above the faction list just to bring it into line with the other articles.--Dmon (talk) 10:00, 26 January 2022 (EST)

BT: Legends Artists[edit]

Hi Mage, I'm curious how you identified Margarita Bourkova as the artist on the BT: Legends portraits that you uploaded? I am trying to identify artists for other portraits and 'Mechs and haven't found many so far. Thanks!--Cache (talk) 13:08, 5 February 2022 (EST)

Lawrence Nelson[edit]

Hi Mage - just wondering if there's a source for Lawrence Nelson#Notes? --FleetfootMike (talk) 06:01, 21 June 2023 (EDT)

Infobox for Battle articles[edit]

Template:InfoBoxBattle
Hiya Mage, since you've done some work on various Battles, I thought I'd throw this your way in case you can incorporate it into your edits. It's the most recent infobox the wiki uses and I think you'll find it's a massive improvement over the previous one. Eventually they will all be updated, but knowing about the battles helps with the accuracy. Csdavis715 (talk) 00:49, 3 February 2024 (EST)

SA Award[edit]

For your work with the page overhauls, most recently Narhal's Raiders.
