Welcome[edit]

Welcome, Muso-ka, to BattleTechWiki!

We look forward to your contributions and want to help you get off to a good strong start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages, visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin.

Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
  • Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
  • Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Muso-ka" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
    • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
  • For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
  • Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Again, welcome to Sarna's BattleTechWiki!

Reminder[edit]

Konnichiwa, Muso-ka-san. We're happy to have you among Sarna BTW's happy family of editors. ;)

However, looking at your edits, I need to remind you of two things: Technical Readout: 3145 Draconis Combine is subject to our self-imposed Policy:Moratorium until the end of July; and your "Notable Pilot" edit to the Shiro (BattleMech) entry is taken word-for-word from the source. This is in violation of our No Plagiarism policy - reproducing copyrighted content from a commercial product poses a very real legal threat to Sarna.net, and is also damaging our beloved BattleTech IP. With that in mind, I've removed the plagiarized content. It would have been fine to paraphrase it, but you cannot copy it verbatim.

This is just a reminder, and not a formal warning (even though I have to wear my admin hat). Please don't let this discourage you from editing here. Frabby (talk) 12:09, 7 June 2013 (PDT)

Hi, Muso-ka.

I'm sorry to inform you, but you have once again, broke the moratorium policy of the wiki with your recent additions to (or creation of) the pages listed here: Exhumer, Hatamoto-Chi (addition of the new variant and posting of it's picture), Tenshi (the picture is public, but the rest of the informations is not), Phoenix Hawk L, Hitotsume Kozo, Koroshiya, Shillelagh, Cizin, Scimitar_Mk.II, Saracen_Mk_II, Saladin_Mk_II, Zou, Oni and Kishi.

Please note that all of this information including all pictures except for the Tenshi and text in all of the articles can't be displayed on this wiki until the 25th of July, which means you'l have to contact an admin to hide all of this information before the site gets in trouble because of it as Frabby has already pointed out on your earlier actions.

Good bye and wish you luck solving this small mess soon. Adridos (talk) 12:21, 9 June 2013 (PDT)

Yep, Adridos found the right words, please stop to add content and images from sources under moratorium, we don't need trouble.--Doneve (talk) 15:06, 9 June 2013 (PDT)

Moratorium[edit]

Hi Muso-ka!

Just to let you know, it looks like most of the stuff you entered that was under moratorium has been removed. (I can't say for sure that all of it was, because I didn't see it all.) I've also removed some data from one of the pages. I only updated the Hitotsume Kozo‎ page, because that's the only one I had a question about. The good news is that when the moratorium expires, we'll just roll back to your version and all will be well. :)

I'm sure by now you've read the Moratorium Policy page. Basically we don't put anything in the wiki until two months after a source has been printed. If it's an electronic pub like the XTROs or TRO 3145 series, we don't enter data until two months have passed since its release. (You'll find that many of the sites related to BattleTech do this.)

Now that you've been informed and are possibly feeling bad, I wanted to let you know that I've gotten excited and violated the moratorium more than once myself. Also I want to say that the Hitosume Kozo updates you made are excellent. I can't wait until the moratorium expires and your changes are reactivated. It's a good article with your changes and a credit to the wiki. Good work!--Mbear(talk) 06:30, 10 June 2013 (PDT)

Point of order, the article content was a direct, verbatim copy of the fluff text from TRO:3145DC. It constitutes illegal plagiarism, i.e. a copyright violation which could put the entire Sarna.net BTW project into legal jeopardy. Since I've already pointed this out before, consider this an official warning by a Sarna admin:
You must not copy content from copyrighted sourcebooks to this site verbatim!
(There may be exceptions, but none apply here.) Frabby (talk) 06:44, 10 June 2013 (PDT)
Oops. I didn't realize that. Frabby, do I need to remove the pages completely?--Mbear(talk) 06:45, 10 June 2013 (PDT)
Actually just to be safe I deleted the pages.--Mbear(talk) 06:51, 10 June 2013 (PDT)
