Welcome[edit]

Welcome to BattleTechWiki! Thank you for your contributions on the Tanite Worlds. Please consider writing something on your user page and introducing yourself at the new user log. I look forward to seeing more of your work. --Scaletail 19:06, 7 April 2009 (PDT)

Multiple Edits[edit]

Thank you for your contributions, most recently to Periphery. I have a small request to make: You are making very many small edits here - would it be possible to do combine the work into a single edit in the future? I suggest you use the "Preview" function to see your progress, and only save as a proper edit once you are through with the entire article. Personally, I even tend to make big edits offline and upload them in a single go. Frabby 23:23, 5 May 2009 (PDT)

Sorry for any inconvenience. After my dissertation, I like to save often. Also, I generally write according to train of thought, and I have been using the save function often in case FiOS goes down.--S.gage 02:26 6 May 2009

Good luck[edit]

...and hurry back. If you wants use/copy my wikibreak banner, feel free to copy & grab it. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 21:01, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the banner!--S.gage 22:56, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Doneve and References request[edit]

Hi S.gage. I wanted to as a favor. Doneve been adding alot info to the timeline. Problem is not using the < Ref > template to link his reference information together. I'm not able to explain this very well to him since i sucky at german and translator doesn't seem communicate what i'm talking about to him. Can you talk to him and explain how to use ref templates? I can't link stuff and fix what done if can tell where he getting his information from. Since you seem to able talk to him way better than me, can you talk to him? Sincerely -- Wrangler 20:32, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

I wrote back, but I believe Frabby is also a German speaker. My German is, admittedly, very rusty - I have barely spoken or written in 8 years. Good luck--S.gage
Hey Wrangler, Doneve knows how to use the footnote function - Doneve gets caught up in writing. Honestly I can't blame Doneve, when I'm writing a lot, adding notes is a hassle. I am unsure when Doneve is planning on revisiting these changes (so for now, just read the whole books Doneve is citing ;) ). At Doneve's pace, I would not be surprised if the page citations are added sooner rather than later. Hope this helps!--S.gage 17:56, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Awards board[edit]

Hey, S.gage: I saw you hadn't given yourself the Edit nor TIS ribbons, so I added them to your main page for you. Please place them where ever you find they fit best. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 21:58, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Revanche!--S.gage 06:21, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

All Purpose Award[edit]

In lieu of the not-yet-existant Casual Edit award, here's the All Purpose Award for correcting my mistake with the Albion 'What links here' link. You possibly saved some new wiki readers a bit of confusion.

All Purpose Award, 1st ribbon

Thanks. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 17:00, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

No problem. I wish I had more time to write in BTW. Good luck!--S.gage 17:07, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Founder's Honorable Mention Award[edit]

S.gage, I've added a Founder's Honorable Mention Award to your board. I know you're on a break right now, but your contributions over the last year were great! Thanks for being a part of our community! Nicjansma 06:44, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you Nic. Considering all of the work of all the other editors, this is truly an honor!--S.gage

Good Luck[edit]

'Nuff said. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 17:49, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

"C" Versions of 3025 mechs[edit]

S.gage - Nice work adding these variants to the pages, while also acknowledging on the "Talk" pages that their canon status is dubious at this point. Have a All Purpose Award, 2nd ribbon! ClanWolverine101 21:26, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you!--S.gage 22:22, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Hy[edit]

Hy S.gage nice to see you back on the wiki, i hope thinks work well for you.GreetingsDoneve 05:40, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey, great to hear from you. I wanted to congratulate you on all of the edits you have made. Absolutely awesome!--S.gage 05:43, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

(1) and (2)[edit]

As you said the first Richard was Protector and the second only on his way to be considered for the Protectorship. My main reason for apply a (1) and (2) designation was to differntiate between their pages/links when I create the Richard (1) page. If there is another way such as Richard Calderon, Age of War and Richard Calderon, Civil War Era I would be glad to modify them to whichever standard you see fit. The (1) and (2) are place holders, not eternal. I did it quick and dirty...only so many hours to play before work takes me away.

I think the best idea is to start with a disambiguation page. Personally, beyond this, I don't know right now - anyone on the BTW have any suggestions?--S.gage 04:12, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
I just use "I" and "II" as needed, even when its not an actual succession. Consider "Brian Cameron", who was First Lord of the Star League, and "Brian Cameron", communications officer for Wolf's Dragoons. ClanWolverine101 04:47, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
The difficulty with that process, what happens when/if you get a third 'Brian' who may be in between the first two? We are talking about several hundred years of fictional history... and both Richard and Brian are common names. I have already crafted pages with the above discriptors.Deeppockets 15:16, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
How about using parentheses to distinguish between roles? "Richard Calderon (Age of War)" was a Protector, so why not "Richard Calderon I". The second Richard Calderon, Richard Calderon (Civil War Era), was born on a frontier world because his father, Felix, had chosen exile; therefore, "Richard Calderon (Exile)". What do you think?--S.gage 17:33, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Holla[edit]

Hy S.gage, i think your Job Hunt project was successfully, i hope we see you back in next...next time. Greeting --Doneve 20:39, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey Doneve, I'm doing OK. I pop in every once in a while, but work is keeping me really busy--S.gage 04:22, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Award[edit]

Nice to see you back, with contributing, please put this award Random Act of Appreciation Award, 1st ribbon to your award board for your great work on the new created family tree pages, i like the trees so much.--Doneve 18:14, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the award! I had some time, and I had been meaning to do this for quite some time, but I'm not done yet. Wish me luck!--S.gage 20:52, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Yes thank you very much for your work, I would not have been able to add so much to the Taurian Concordat if your framework had not been in place. Please accept this All Purpose Award, 3rd ribbon for allowing me to bring my faction up in this Wiki.Deeppockets 12:05, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

How are you doing?[edit]

Evening, S.gage. I was going to email you, but saw that your preference is not to receive emails via the site. Just checking in, seeing how you're doing.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 03:16, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Field Report: Periphery[edit]

Hi S. Gage, I noticed that you made a minor tweak to the Hanseatic League page regarding the planet count within the League, citing Field Report: Periphery as the source. Unfortunately, FR: Periphery is still under moratorium until the end of September, so we aren't supposed to be using it as a source on sarna yet. It's a tad frustrating, because there are lots of lovely maps I want to play with in that and in Historical: Reunification War and I can't yet. BrokenMnemonic 12:02, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry, it was my understanding corrections on previous data were admissible. Apologies!--S.gage 14:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
No harm, no foul Smiley.gif I could be wrong - I'm just going on what Revanche told me... BrokenMnemonic 07:16, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Planets Overhaul Phase 4[edit]

Hi S. Gage,

Revanche made some comments about Phase 4 of the overhaul over on BattleTechWiki_talk:Project_Planets/Planet_Overhaul#Phase_4 with a view to getting the test articles up to the same standard and agreeing what that standard should be. I've responded, but no-one else has yet, and I was hoping I could persuade you to weigh in with your opinions - as you've volunteered to do the nearest neighbour work, the sooner the template is agreed and we start a test mission, the sooner I can deluge you with work. I mean... the sooner we can all help improve the information provided by the wiki. Wink.gif. I don't think that we can have the standards all agreed and every planet article rewritten before Revanche gets back, but I'm sure we could arrange a surprise... BrokenMnemonic 07:16, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Musing on the Taurian Concordat[edit]

I just completed nearby system calculations for all worlds aligned with the TC at any point. If it were not for poor decisions, lost worlds over the years, stagnating settlement programs and depredations by neighbors, the Taurians realm would have 137+ worlds, larger than the Capellan Confederation after the 4th Succession War. If the Taurians (or another technologically sophisticated group not bound by Clan law) had settled farther from the Inner Sphere...--S.gage 04:58, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Planets and other helpfull stuff[edit]

Hy S.gage, take a look on this link, there is some helpfull stuff for our planet overhaul project BadSyntax database,greetings.--Doneve 12:58, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Introduction Year[edit]

Hy S.gage i added the introduction year to the infobox, then we can show it on the BattleMech Timetable by the new semantic wiki code, take a look on the link.--Doneve 09:54, 18 February 2012 (PST)

Yes, I saw this on the front page, and I had produced an (almost complete) table for my own reference. I'm just going to the table right now and entering what I already have into the wiki :)--S.gage
Hy again, add your introduction years to the infobox of the 'mech articles, then we have it on the BattleMech Timetable.--Doneve 12:12, 18 February 2012 (PST)
You can add it to the article itself, too. Are you suggesting that I also put it in the infobox?--S.gage 12:26, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Yep i favor to add it to the infobox.--Doneve 12:31, 18 February 2012 (PST)
OK, I'll alter the articles I've gotten edited so far, but do we have consensus with this format change?--S.gage 12:44, 18 February 2012 (PST)
There is no reason to do this not, i think when it was a problem then the admin's talked to Seth or to me to don't use the new wiki semantic code.--Doneve 12:50, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Holla ;), i want you use the semantic code then the years where linked to the BM Timetable, like |production year=????.--Doneve 12:54, 18 February 2012 (PST)
I know, but I just went in to the article text and placed it there. Right now, I'm simply adding the info to the infobox. I'll go back, again... BTW, What happens if it is placed 2x in the same article? Or, what happens if there are 2 or more links, but not all of them are the same?--S.gage 12:57, 18 February 2012 (PST)
OK, the script does not seem to work if it is placed in the infobox (the infobox format is messed up) - see Stalker. At this point, I'm just going to add the introduction date, and leave the text unaltered.--S.gage 13:00, 18 February 2012 (PST)
The scripted worked take a look on the changes i make on the Cyclops page, when the date is not shown on the BM Timetable page go on the top of the page and hit the new load button then you can see the result, it was a little bit tricky, but it works.--Doneve 13:05, 18 February 2012 (PST)
I found the failur, don't add any citations, to the year in the infobox.--Doneve 13:08, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Yes, I just saw the Cyclops page and edited it before reading. I guess you cannot have a normal link with this format. OK. Can you ask Seth please change "year introduced" to "introduced"? It reads better.--S.gage 13:10, 18 February 2012 (PST)
Ok i set up a talk to him, then he can fix the problem.--Doneve 13:12, 18 February 2012 (PST)
There is another problem. If you try to add a reference to this field, it give another error.--S.gage 13:13, 18 February 2012 (PST)
I know i talk it also to Seth.--Doneve 13:15, 18 February 2012 (PST)
There is no way to add a reference tag to the |production year=XXXX line. What I did was edit the infobox template so that if you add the line "|year reference=<ref>''Technical Readout: 3039'', p. 165</ref>", it will correctly add the reference to the right spot. I also changed the infobox from reading Year Introduced to simply Introduced.--Seth 20:34, 18 February 2012 (PST)

additional Infos[edit]

Hello S.gage, I see that you are updating the introduction years of the various machines. When I can help with some information let me know. I'm working on a project and discover that many designs are reintroduced under a new manufactuer like the Ostroc. Built during the Star LEague era by Ostmann Industries until 2777 (TRO 3039 page 291). New models were build by Kressly WarWorks (TRO 3085 page 246). Neuling 23:15, 18 February 2012 (PST)

The information I collected was only when the designs were first introduced, not when they were reintroduced. Please feel free to add this information if you have it.--S.gage 14:18, 19 February 2012 (PST)

Old Pic not working[edit]

Hi S. Gage, your picture File:AssaultGuards.jpg is not appearing. -- Wrangler 15:08, 20 May 2012 (PDT)

Blabla[edit]

Hy S.gage, i hope all is well with you, nice to see you back, good edit on the OmniMech page. I read on your user page you stop to edit planet pages, i have a corrected extrapolated xy coordinates, and distances Spreadsheet for you if you are interested, BadSyntax's errors where messed out, another point, i think [Handbook: House Kurita] is a never ending story, i don't wait anymore for this book, greetings.--Doneve 12:42, 10 September 2012 (PDT)

I am better than months back. I am volunteering at work and trying to get back to full time. To keep my mind active, I have been doing more reading, some here on the BTW. Yes, I had been working on PP spreadsheets, but once it was clear BadSyntax's numbers were wrong, I tried working with Volt's spreadsheets and they kept crashing my computer. Each time I searched within the document or even just moved the cursor, my computer would stop responding for 15 minutes... I had to stop doing it.--S.gage 16:56, 10 September 2012 (PDT)
Oh i forgot to say, i know a little bit about cancer, i had my last chemo in last year, and the cancer is stoped at this time, i don't want to say anymore on the wiki (it's not the right place) to this critical thema, if you are interested to talk with me, i give you my personal e-mail when you want.--Doneve 16:50, 11 September 2012 (PDT)

Great BA Revamp[edit]

In appreciation for the great work you did on the battle armor page, please accept this Substantial Addition award: Substantial Addition Award, 1st ribbon . Not only did you do an impressive job with adding boatloads of highly-sourced info, you also stuck with the page and continued improving it and correcting stuff that was wrong after I proofread it. Once again, thanks. -BobTheZombie (talk) 14:01, 21 February 2014 (PST)

Thank you so much for the recognition, I really appreciate it!--S.gage (talk) 20:49, 21 February 2014 (PST)

11th Lyran Guards[edit]

Thanks for the heads up on the 11th Lyran Guards, i went to the section you pointed out. I'll add it to the article. I wish it had said more about what happened to the Guards. Thanks again! -- Wrangler (talk) 17:32, 28 March 2014 (PDT)

You're welcome, I am glad I could be useful!--S.gage (talk) 10:15, 24 April 2014 (PDT)

System Coordinates naming question[edit]

S.gage, I'm trying to get the band back together. Would you weigh in on this, please? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 17:09, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

Doneve[edit]

Since you pinged Doneve on his talk page, I though I should point out that Doneve dropped off the radar all of a sudden in January 2017. He was apparently hospitalized at the time, and he mentioned that he had been fighting cancer. Frabby (talk) 06:02, 7 May 2020 (EDT)

Thank you for telling me, I saw from his activity he has been away and I was concerned. He and I used to talk a little about it, since I had a heart transplant and cancer myself. I was hoping he was still on BTW, even if he was not contributing, and that he would see my well-wishes.
I hope you and everyone else are staying safe, too!--S.gage (talk) 14:03, 7 May 2020 (EDT)

Welcome back[edit]

It's been a minute. How are things with you? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 12:20, 24 July 2022 (EDT)

Thanks Rev! I have been very busy. I'm actually mostly finished with a Python course, and decided it is too hot to study. Though wiki is not built on Python, I thought it was ok practice. Hope all is well with you, I fear some of my prose might be lacking. If you see anything requiring edit, please feel free to step in. I am working on Homer at the moment, and will probably finish it off tomorrow.--S.gage (talk) 12:24, 24 July 2022 (EDT)
I'd like to talk to you in a more private way. "What can I do to get you into our Discord server today?" --Revanche (talk|contribs) 12:31, 24 July 2022 (EDT)
I just joined the Sarna server.--S.gage (talk) 16:57, 24 July 2022 (EDT)
Sent you a message there.--Revanche (talk|contribs) 20:10, 24 July 2022 (EDT)
