VaultShip Gamma

Vessel Profile
TypeDropShip
ClassMule

VaultShip Gamma was one of six VaultShips commissioned by Clan Jade Falcon in 3132 in response to the Blackout, to stabilize the Kerensky by using the assets stored aboard the vessel for trade along the Clan Occupation Zones.[1] These VaultShips were reconfigured Mule-class DropShips.

For the purpose of this article, VaultShip Gamma is considered to be the name of the individual VaultShip. It is ultimately unclear if this was the true name of the DropShip itself (which would have existed, presumably under another name, before the conversion), or if it referred to the DropShip's role with its entire task force which would invariably encompass a JumpShip with a Lithium-Fusion Battery and assorted escort assets including at least an assault DropShip and a Trinary of troops.

Operational History[edit]

Gamma's operating area was the Rasalhague Dominion, and most of its travels were along set routes. As with all of other VaultShips, its initial Trinary was composed of elite warriors, but after 3137 they were moved to the Golden Ordun and replaced by solahma and dezgra warriors, the dregs of the Falcon touman, proving how little the new Khan, Malvina Hazen, appreciated the ships' vital work.[2]

After Malvina began her move to Terra, she ordered all VaultShips returned to Sudeten and emptied of their contents. Merchant Factor Marena, who was aboard Alpha, ignored the order. With the HPG Blackout and the confusion of orders to mobilize the Falcon's full touman, Marena gambled on the hunch that Malvina could not understand what a VaultShip was. This forced Malvina to depart without the Clan's money.[3]

In late June 3151, Marena took Alyina and founded her new mercantile state, the Alyina Mercantile League, and called all VaultShips to their space.[4]

VaultShip Gamma did not obey the order. Months before, a ristar, Star Captain Jiyi Chistu, had taken command of the onboard Trinary. He turned them into an elite force and even gained the loyalty of the VaultShip's captain, Merchant Jodine. As Gamma used Clan Jade Falcon's capital world, Sudeten, as its base, he ordered them to return there instead. Chistu took command of the planet and created his own state, the Clan Jade Falcon Remnants. Jodine became his Merchant Factor.[5]

Chistu soon took VaultShip Gamma to the Clan Ghost Bear world of Quarell, where he used it as a prize to tempt the local commander to engage in a Trial of Possession for a group of cadets, which he won.[6]

After the return to Sudeten, Jodine sent Gamma to resume its trading, maintaining ties between the Ghost Bears and Remnant Falcons.[7]
