VaultShip

(Redirected from VaultShips)

VaultShips were DropShips commissioned by Clan Jade Falcon as part of their banking system in 3132 in response to the Blackout, using the assets stored aboard the vessel for trade along the Clan Occupation Zones.[1]

History[edit]

By 3132, it was clear the Blackout of the HPG grid would continue for some time. Khan Jana Pryde ordered Merchant Factor Marena to find a solution. Marena oversaw the conversion of six Mule-class DropShips to VaultShips, designed to carry gold, precious metals, and other assets, and also to keep the Kerensky registries updated, preventing the collapse of the Clan currency. Each VaultShip was carried by a JumpShip equipped with a Lithium-Fusion Battery, and escorted by either a Noruff or Titan Monitor assault DropShip, plus a Trinary of troops in another DropShip.[1] This Trinary was initially composed of elite warriors, but after 3137 they were moved to the Golden Ordun and replaced by solahma and dezgra warriors, the dregs of the Falcon touman, proving how little the new Khan, Malvina Hazen, appreciated the ships' vital work.[2]

All VaultShips traveled along the Clan Occupation Zones and Wolf Empire, keeping trading alive and facilitating business. In 3151, Khan Malvina Hazen ordered Marena to call them all back to Sudeten to finance the Clan's Battle of Terra. Marena, who was with VaultShip Alpha, gambled on the hunch that Malvina could not properly understand what a VaultShip was, and pretended that Alpha had blown a helium seal and was unable to return. This forced Malvina to depart without the Clan's money.[3]

After the chaos erupted in the former Jade Falcon Occupation Zone, Marena decided to create her own state, the Alyina Mercantile League, calling all VaultShips to Alyina. Clan Hell's Horses and Clan Wolf attacked Delta and Beta, respectively, but failed to take them. Gamma refused Marena's call and returned to Sudeten instead. Its merchants joined Jiyi Chistu, who was proclaimed Khan and founded his own Clan of Jade Falcons.

At least some of Marena's VaultShips continued providing their services in the friendly Occupation Zones.[4]
