The Vipaava system was home to at least one habitable world and as of 3151 was located in the Rasalhague Province of the Rasalhague Dominion.[1]

Vipaava is located near the Pomme De Terre and Radlje systems.[2][3]

System History[edit]

The Vipaava system was colonized at some point prior to the end of the Reunification War.[4]

Planetary History[edit]

Early History[edit]

Colonists from the Federal Democratic Republics of Finland, Norway and Sweden emigrated in significant numbers after the end of the War Damage Tax payments levied on them as a part of the international rebuilding effort following the Second Soviet Civil War. Choosing a world far from Terra and the oppressive bureaucracy that went with it, the first colonists left in the mid-twenty-third century and within sixty years had settled Rasalhague and eight other nearby worlds[5] including Vipaava.[6] In the late twenty-third century these worlds created a joint government to oversee the development of the worlds, creating the Rasalhague Consortium. Contact with other interstellar nations led to the Consortium evolving into the short-lived Principality of Rasalhague, prior to the Principality being conquered by the Draconis Combine in the early to mid-twenty-fourth century.[5]

Clan Invasion[edit]

In August 3050, Vipaava was invaded by Clan Ghost Bear at part of Operation REVIVAL, during the fourth wave of attacks. The invading forces were drawn from the Fourteenth Battle Cluster, which deployed Alpha Battle Star of the Twenty-third Battle Trinary and Alpha Nova Star of the Seventy-sixth Supernova to capture the planet. The Ghost Bear forces issued a batchall to the defending Twenty-second Rasalhagian Free Company, a mixed unit of one 'Mech company and two infantry regiments, who agreed to the challenge and to meet at the Lion's Den, a rock outcropping well away from the nearest cities and towns. Suspecting a trap, the Ghost Bear warriors were surprised to find the defending the Twenty-second not only waiting to engage them at the location agreed upon, but then fought in an honorable fashion. Alpha Nova Star engaged the Twenty-second first and swiftly decimated the KungsArmé forces, forcing the survivors to surrender. The defeat of the Twenty-second was a major factor in convincing senior officers in the KungsArmé that winning a straight fight against Clan forces was impossible, and that new tactics would be needed.[36]

Dark Age[edit]

During the brief rebellion by Motstånd in 3125, Dominion forces under the command of Galaxy Commander Dalia Bekker pursued Motstånd leader Cilla Amdahl throughout the Blue Road cave network. With native Vipaavan assistance, Bekker's warriors trapped Amdahl's cell and capture the rebel leader, who was subsequently executed for decades of crimes against Dominion authority.[37]
