The TASS W. Buffett was a Terran Alliance JumpShip operating during the First Exodus. One of many colony ships bound for the Binary star system of Mizar, which was being jointly developed by the United States and China at the behest of their wealthiest citizens, the ship fatally misjumped in 2167. This resulted in an Alliance ban on the use of nonstandard jump points throughout known space, which affected at least Mizar and Kandersteg.[1][2] This prohibition would continue until this Brandt Recoil Effect was discovered on Stewart in the 25th century.[3][4]
