Plot summary[edit]
The officer of the Magistracy of Canopus army, Lieutenant Maeve Geans, prepares herself for a mission. Her unit was part of a raid in the Marian Hegemony world of Pompey. She informs her recon lance and they moved. Eventually, they had to get into a city, were they found Marian opposition. Her unit secured the way for the main body, but quickly they found heavy opposition, but quickly began suffering losses. Even Maeve's 'Mech was downed, and she barely had time to get out before being crushed. She reunites with another member of her lance and they hid, awaiting for rescue. Soon after, both have been rescued and were on their DropShip. Maeve's colonel congratulates her for having saved all her lance's members, but she was devastated for the losses, especially for her family 'Mech. The colonel tells her that they may recover it someday, and Maeve swears to retake her 'Mech one day.
