Winson, Jennifer (Bloodname)

The Winson Bloodname deriving from Jennifer Winson was a Clan Wolf founding legacy.[1] There is another, separate Winson Bloodname deriving from her supposed brother Jerome Winson. It is worth noting that, although this is not known within the BattleTech universe at large, "Jennifer Winson" was a false name, and her supposed family relation to Jerome Winson was a forgery to cover up her real identity. Beyond this there is a breadcrumb trail of unreliable information suggesting that Nicholas Kerensky's wife, the woman calling herself Jennifer Winson, may actually have been the last living descendant of the ruling House of the Star League, House Cameron.

Members of the Winson Bloodhouse were noted to have a flair for speaking a variety of languages. Whether this was applied to both Winson Bloodhouses is unknown at this time.[2]

Wars of Reaving[edit]

In December 3071 the renamed 246th Wolf Strike Cluster and the 509th Wolf Solahma Battle, dropped on and around the Kerensky Blood Chapel in Strana Mechty. Led by Star Colonel Ramil Kerensky of the Clan Wolf Watch. He opened a challenge to all Clans to prove themselves worthy of the Kerensky Heritage by retaking the Chapel from his forces. This prompted several warriors to attack the Wolves; as the day wore on, the numbers involved grew until ilKhan Andrews announced that whichever Clan could take the Chapel back would be awarded the Kerensky Bloodname. Chaos ensued as the Clans all vied for the honor with ninety warriors assaulting the entrenched Wolves over three days. Wolf Elementals destroyed the Winson Blood Chapel and as Ramil Kerensky fell he detonated the Kerensky Blood Chapel. This action provided the cover for a Wolf Watch team to penetrate the main genetics repository and destroy the master genetic files of Jennifer Winson, Nicholas and Andery Kerensky. The 246th were destroyed in this action.[15]

  • During the Wars of Reaving, Jennifer Winson's genetic legacy would be passed to Clan Coyote as part of a deal to assist Clan Wolf in escaping the Clan Homeworlds.[16] After the Wars of Reaving, a new tradition was created by the Coyotes that allowed holders of the Winson Bloodline to show their heritage. Warriors were allowed to add a golden braid on their field and dress uniform and trim their equipment in gold. This was done to demonstrate that the Winson line represented the last of the founder's legacy among the Home Clans. While initially used for Coyote warriors, it was later extended to warriors of that bloodline to all remaining Clans with no retribution; possibly done by Clan Coyote to make amends for their role in helping The Society.[17]
