Description[edit]
The Wusun medium OmniFighter is a post-Jihad design built for Clan Snow Raven by its partners in the Outworlds Alliance. The Wusun came into existence largely due to the efforts of President Camden Avellar, the head of the Alliance government. During the Jihad he strove to convince the Ravens that the United Outworlders Corporation was trustworthy enough to handle their technology, and that both parties could benefit from a commercial arrangement. By 3076 the Raven Council finally agreed to allow United Outworlders to build a new fighter under strict guidelines, and in 3085 the first Wusun fighters began to roll out of UOC's new factory on Ramora.[1]
The Wusun is most often configured as a close-in interceptor. It boasts 11.5 tons of ferro-aluminum armor, and its extralight fusion engine allows the craft to reach a maximum thrust rating of 12. Thanks to the weight saved by the engine and armor, the fighter has 24 tons of pod space available.[1]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Wusun's primary configuration is geared towards fighting an enemy at short to medium range. The nose pods have three ER medium lasers fitted, while each of the wings has a pair of Streak SRM-6 launchers. The launchers draw from a 4-ton ammunition bay. A targeting computer is included to maximum the accuracy of the laser weapons. Four additional double heat sinks have been added as well.[3]
Alternate Configurations[edit]
- Alternate Configuration A
- This configuration is outfitted with an LRM-15 launcher located in each wing. The launchers are enhanced with Artemis IV FCS and draw from a 4-ton ammunition bay.y The Wusun A also has three nose-mounted medium pulse lasers slaved to a targeting computer. BV(2.0)=2,369[1], 2,372[4]
- Alternate Configuration B
- The Wusun B mounts a single weapon: a nose-mounted HAG 40 with four tons (12 shots) of ammunition. This configuration also features a targeting computer and three additional double heat sinks. BV(2.0)=2,450[1], 2,453[5]
- Alternate Configuration C
- An all energy loadout, this configuration features an ER large laser in the nose while three heavy medium lasers are located in each of its wing pods. The heat and inaccuracy problems caused by the weapons are remedied by the installation of 11 additional double heat sinks and a targeting computer. BV(2.0)=2,365[6], 2,368[7]
- Alternate Configuration D
- This configuration, developed in 3121[8], carries a Gauss rifle and an Improved Heavy Large Laser in the nose, both of which are tied into a targeting computer. The Wusun D also carries an ECM suite to disrupt enemy electronics. BV (2.0) = 2,362[9][8]
