The Zoetermeer system is the location of at least one habitable world, Zoetermeer II, and as of June 3152 was located in the Clan Hell's Horses Occupation Zone.[3]

System Description[edit]

The Zoetermeer system is located close to the Leskovik and Vulcan systems[4][5] and consists of at least two planets orbiting a class G9V primary.[1]

System History[edit]

The Zoetermeer system was colonized during the Star League era by the Lyran Commonwealth at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[6][7]

Zoetermeer II, or simply Zoetermeer, is the second planet in the system and has a single moon named Zegwaard. The world was orbited by several chemical engineering facilities as of 3057.[1][45]

Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

During the final years of the Star League, Zoetermeer was the host to a Star League Defense Force garrison.[46]

Operation REVIVAL[edit]

The Zoetermeer system was invaded by Clan Jade Falcon during the Operation Revival in September-October of 3050. Part of its Fourth Wave, the world was taken by Emerald Talon Naval Assault Star via blockade rather than a ground assault. Khan Elias Crichell could not spare any ground forces to take the planet, but also forbid the Naval Star from using orbital bombardment. So Star Admiral Adrian Malthus bluffed the defenders, the survivors of the Tenth Donegal Guards and Alpha Battalion of the Twelfth Star Guards, into surrender by taking orbit above the planet's capital city, Hohenzollern, and threatening its destruction by actions he was forbidden to take. The defenders believed in the threats however and surrendered the world without a shot being fired. There were rumors that Zoetermeer came under attack due to the presence of a hidden Star League Naval depot somewhere in the system, but no facility was ever found.[27][1]

The Refusal War[edit]

In September 3057, then Star Colonel Ulric Kerensky led the newly created Clan Wolf Tau Galaxy in an assault on Zoetermeer. Star Captain Vlad led the Red Keshik against elements of the Clan Jade Falcon's Tenth Provisional Garrison Cluster around the Nalon Spaceport in one of many battles across the world. The Wolves would be victorious, but had suffered large losses in equipment and personnel.[47]

Jihad[edit]

Zoetermeer was conquered by Clan Wolf during the 3060s, only to then be invaded again during the Jihad, when Clan Hell's Horses launched an invasion of Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere in early 3071. Zoetermeer was invaded by the Hell's Horses between 14 and 28 August 3071, but the Hell's Horses invasion stalled along a line of worlds from Zoetermeer to Ferleiten.[35][36]

In 3073, the Wolf garrison suffered an attack by scientist caste renegades from The Society. A chemical bomb exploded in a barracks fatally contaminated over half of the Seventeenth Wolf Regulars. The bombing was followed up by a conventional attack by Trueborn scientists from a nearby research facility. Wolf warriors beat off the attackers, though the research facility itself was destroyed, and tracked them to their base elsewhere. When a DropShip launched and rendezvoused with a merchant caste JumpShip the Wolves were able to track the renegades to the Jade Falcon world of Denizli.[48]

By 3079, the Wolves had declined to develop the world's infrastructure and industrial capacity beyond what the Falcons had put in place.[1]

Dark Age[edit]

After Clan Wolf abandoned its Occupation Zone in 3137, the undefended Zoetermeer and its aerospace facilities were swiftly taken by Clan Hell's Horses' Delta Galaxy.[43]

Military Deployment[edit]

Geography[edit]

Zoetermeer has one major continent: Sahara.[1]

Planetary Locations[edit]

  • Hohenzollern: planetary capital city[1][52][27]
  • Nalon Spaceport: site of an important battle during the Refusal War[53]
  • Salyn: seaside city and home of the Nalon Spaceport; site of an important battle during the Refusal War[53]
