History

Operation Revival

The 140th Striker Cluster fought on the following worlds during the invasion of the Inner Sphere:

Wave One

Wave Four

Wave Five

Tukayyid

Ghost Bear/Draconis Combine War

As part of Delta Galaxy the 140th took an active role in the war between the Ghost Bears, the Draconis Combine and their Clan Nova Cat allies. Acting with support from Rho, Tau and Zeta Galaxies Delta led strikes against the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery forces on Kanowit and Kiesen while battling the Nova Cats on Itabaiana and Labrea.[1]

The Jihad

As a light, fast-moving Galaxy, Delta Galaxy was heavily tasked during the Jihad when Clan Ghost Bear launched a series of attacks against the Word of Blake. Delta Galaxy supported Beta Galaxy during the liberation of the Draconis Combine world of Pesht before becoming the lead formation in Delta Wave of the Ghost Bear campaign. Delta Wave saw Delta Galaxy attack and hold the Word of Blake Protectorate worlds of Eltanin and Alya[2] in late August 3075,[3][4] securing the flank of the Ghost Bear push towards Terra, before pausing to wait for the Ghost Bear forces in Beta Wave to catch up.[2]

After Beta Wave caught up with Delta Wave, Delta Galaxy went on to take the Protectorate worlds of Kervil and Sabik[2] in attacks launched on the 21st of July 3076[5][6] and then Skondia in September 3076[5][6][7] before surprising friend and foe alike when they appeared in the Thorin system[2] in 3077[8] and savaged the Blakist forces there via an intense orbital bombardment even as the Blakists were being besieged by a contingent from the Lyran Alliance. While none of the engagements Delta fought in were as brutal or large scale as some of the other Ghost Bear campaigns such as the liberation of Dieron or Dyev, Delta was in combat almost continuously, and this evoked a heavy toll on the Galaxy; the damage taken through attrition on six worlds was enough that by 3079 two of the Clusters within Delta Galaxy - the Sixty-eighth and 115th Stiker Clusters - had been disbanded[2] and the 140th was barely above one-third of full strength.[9]

The Dark Age

As a part of rebuilding Beta Galaxy the Dominion disbanded Delta Galaxy and assigned the 140th Striker Cluster to Beta, as well as moving the Eighteenth Battle Cluster from Rho Galaxy into Beta. Both Clusters were assigned to worlds close to New Oslo, one of the Hell's Horses worlds and a menacing reminder that whilst Beta might have had problems maintaining an extended campaign at that point, it was more than capable of tearing through a defending force.[10]

The bloody swath that Beta cut through the Blakists during the Jihad earned them not just a passage in the Remembrance but also a grim reputation in the eyes of the Dominion's neighbours; the Dominion was more than happy to use that reputation to its advantage, and in the early years after the Jihad Beta acted as a threat to Clan Wolf. While Beta Galaxy was half the size of the Wolves Alpha Galaxy, Beta was positioned within two jumps of the Wolf capital on Tamar and served as a clear reminder that Dominion was always ready to tear straight into the heart of the Wolf Occupation Zone. Despite the relatively small size of Beta Galaxy it was able to draw on the production of factories on both Alshain and Satalice, and any lack of mass on Beta's part was compensated for using cutting edge and sheer mass, with the weight of the Clusters within Beta increasing as the Galaxy rebuilt.[10]

By the mid-thirty-second century Beta Galaxy had been deployed to shield the Skandia Province of the Rasalhague Dominion from its location near the border of the Draconis Combine's Buckminster Prefecture. After the HPG blackout began Beta was the first front-line formation in the Dominion to begin receiving new equipment, including large quantities of battle armor produced on Mannedorf.[11]

In 3137 as Clan Wolf was abandoning their Occupation Zone Beta Galaxy was swiftly redeployed to capture a number of worlds that had been members of the former Free Rasalhague Republic. In a swift campaign the Fourteenth and Eighteenth Battle Clusters managed to seize Carse, Galuzzo, Jabuka and Quarell before the Eighteenth collided with the First Falcon Jaegers on La Grave.[11][12]

Officers

As of 3061 the Commanding Officer was Star Colonel Boris Jorgensson, a sibmate of Khan Bjorn Jorgensson.[13] Jorgensson continued to command the 140th throughout the Jihad and up until at least as late as 3085.[14][15]

In 3145 the commanding officer of the Eighteenth was Star Colonel Rolf DelVillar.[16]

Tactics

The Cluster use intensive air strikes to soften an enemy up, while the Cluster's OmniMechs are always equipped with jump jets and are well-trained in orbital drops.[13]
