History
In the Fourth Succession War the Fourteenth Donegal Guards landed on Utrecht and faced off against the 7th Sword of Light. The Fourteenth spent five weeks crossing the surface of the world, enduring near constant aerospace attacks, to surround the capitol city Naragajan. The Fourteenth laid siege to the city, forcing the DCMS unit to either attack or die of starvation. The Seventh couldn't break out and after some fighting withdrew from the world.[1]
Prior to the Xin Sheng Campaign the Fourteenth was deployed to the St. Ives Compact as part of the SLDF peacekeeping mission. They weren't accepted by the local population, but overall the locals did respect the Lyran unit. The Fourteenth answered the call to return to the Lyran Alliance in 3057.[1]
During the FedCom Civil War the Fourteenth Donegal Guards nearly captured Victor Steiner-Davion on Newtown Square. Unfortunately they were contained by Allied forces and forced to surrender. Victor didn't disarm or disband the unit, a risk that paid off when Clan Jade Falcon attacked. The Fourteenth Donegal was one of the units that participated in Operation Audacity.[2]
The Fourteenth Donegal Guards were destroyed by Word of Blake forces as the Guards tried to liberate Tharkad.[3]
Officers
In 3025 the unit is commanded by Colonel W. J. Hardy[4], he held also the command in 3050.[5] General Hardy was replaced by the LAAF High Command because during the unit's return to Lyran space he ordered his units to fire several warning shots to disperse a crowd of protestors who wanted the guards to stay.[1]
As of 3062, the commanding officer was Leutnant-General Adam Steiner.[1] In 3067 he was still in command, but known as Margrave Adam Steiner.[2]
Tactics
The unit use the morning to make raids on enemy position, because the normal soldier aren't in top conditions.[1]
