History

Star League Era

The Fourteenth Donegal Guards were either casualties of the Age of War or were deactivated as a command during the Star League era.[1] In 2783] the Lyran Commonwealth successfully recruited the 231st Light Horse Regiment, a Star League Defense Force regiment and incorporated them into the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces.[2] The 231st, formerly a part of VIII Corps within the SLDF Fourteenth Army,[3] were added to the rolls of the Donegal Guards as the reactivated Fourteenth Donegal Guards.[2]

Fourth Succession War

The Fourteenth took an active part in the Fourth Succession War; during the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the war, the Fourteenth captured Diosd.[4][5] Later in the War the Fourteenth landed on Utrecht and faced off against the Seventh Sword of Light. The Fourteenth spent five weeks crossing the surface of the world, enduring near constant aerospace attacks, to surround the capitol city Naragajan. The Fourteenth laid siege to the city, forcing the DCMS unit to either attack or die of starvation. The Seventh couldn't break out and after some fighting withdrew from the world.[6]

Clan Invasion

Prior to the Xin Sheng Campaign the Fourteenth was deployed to the St. Ives Compact as part of the SLDF peacekeeping mission. They weren't accepted by the local population, but overall the locals did respect the Lyran unit. The Fourteenth answered the call to return to the Lyran Alliance in 3057.[6]

FedCom Civil War

During the FedCom Civil War the Fourteenth Donegal Guards nearly captured Victor Steiner-Davion on Newtown Square. Unfortunately they were contained by Allied forces and forced to surrender. Victor didn't disarm or disband the unit, a risk that paid off when Clan Jade Falcon attacked; led by Adam Steiner, the Fourteenth Donegal was one of the units that participated in Operation Audacity, the counter-attack into the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone masterminded by Adam Steiner and which resulted in the Treaty of Blair Atholl.[7]

The Jihad

The Fourteenth Donegal Guards were destroyed by Word of Blake forces as the Guards tried to liberate Tharkad.[8]
