157th Royal Mechanized Infantry Division

157th Royal Mechanized Infantry Division
Nickname The Light of the Zodiac Division[1]
Affiliation Star League
Parent Command LXVIII Corps

The 157th Royal Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.

History[edit]

The 157th was one of the few SLDF units where almost all of its members were drawn from the Belter communities in the Terra system. The unit's nickname, The Light of the Zodiac Division, originates from the light of Sol, Terra's sun, reflecting off the dust and gas within mankind's home system.[2]

As most of the members of the infantry were individuals who had lived their lives in low or microgravity, they commonly operated in lower gravity environments, an example of which was the defense of the mining colonies on Onverwacht's many moons.[2]

In 2764, the unit was assigned, as part of LXVIII Corps, Eighteenth Army, of the Periphery Military Region but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery to take part in the Periphery Uprising by 2765.[3] The 157th survived the war and the Hegemony Campaign, and followed General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus in 2784.[3]

As an SLDF mechanized infantry division, the 157th would have comprised two brigades of mechanized infantry and a brigade of 'Mech regiments.[4]
