Overview
The 171st Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History
The unit was formed on the Federated Suns world of Paris.[1]
During the reign of the Star League, the 171st assisted the citizens of Quelimane when a super volcano erupted on the continent of Mozambique. The Division lost 47 members as they help rescue innocents trapped by the disaster. Since then, the unit has worked to become the best disaster relief unit in the SLDF.[2]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the L Corps, Sixteenth Army, to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery.[3] The 171st was destroyed during the Periphery Uprising in 2765.[3]

Tactics
The Mechanized Infantry Divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech Divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.
Composition History
The Division comprised two Brigades of Mechanized Infantry and a single BattleMech Brigade. Also attached was a Ground Aero Wing.[4]
