Overview
The 218th Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History
In 2764 the 218th was a part of XLI Corps within the Ninth Army and was assigned to District 2 of the Free Worlds League Military Region. The 218th was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765 in response to the Periphery Uprising, but defected at some point after arriving, joining the Periphery rebels.[1] The defectors from the 218th - approximately two regiments of troops in total - joined the Magistracy of Canopus in 2766, but were destroyed in 2767.[2]
Tactics
The Mechanised Infantry Divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech Divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.
Composition History
The Division comprised two Brigades of Mechanised Infantry and a single BattleMech Brigade. Also attached was a Ground Aero Wing.[3]
