History
The Second Avalon Borderers were an Armed Forces of the Federated Suns regiment formed by recruiting former Star League Defense Force personnel.[1]
First Succession War
In 2784 the AFFS successfully recruited a number of SLDF regiments. One of the regiments recruited was the Fifth Hussar Regiment, formerly a part of XXIV Corps within the SLDF Fifth Army. The Hussars were redesignated as the Second Avalon Borderers, and were joined within the Avalon Borderers brigade by two other former SLDF commands, the 149th Dragoon Regiment and the 2004th Battle Regiment.[2] The Second Avalon Borderers survived the First Succession War, although they lost more than two-thirds of their strength during the conflict. One of their sister regiments, the Third, was less fortunate.[1]
Second Succession War
The Second Avalon Borderers had rebuilt to almost full strength by the time the Second Succession War began full-force, but were destroyed during the war.[3]
Third Succession War
Presumably reformed at some point during the Third Succession War the Second Avalon Borderers were one of the five regiments that refused to swear loyalty to Andrew Davion after the murder of Peter Davion by the Warrior Cabal. The Second were destroyed on Deshler, the last of the cabal regiments, by the Davion Guards.[citation needed]
