History

Succession Wars

The Second Davion Guards RCT was scheduled to assist a Deneb Light Cavalry unit during their assault of Tikonov in 2834. Unfortunately DCMS forces raided Sanilac, the Second's homeworld. Loaded in their DropShips the Second was hard-pressed to force the Kuritan units off their world. By the time they did so, the Second was in no condition to assist the Deneb Light Cavalry.[1]

As of 3025, the Second Davion Guards was based on Fomalhaut. It was commanded by Marshall Jessica Davion.[2]

During the Fourth Succession War the 2nd Davion Guards protected Fomalhaut.[3]

By 3054, they were moved to Blue Hole in the Tamar March to help meet the threat of the Clan Invasion.

FedCom Civil War

In 3067 the 2nd Davion Guards were stationed on Bromhead along with the 22nd Avalon Hussars and Hansen's Roughriders. To prevent a pointless conflict from tearing the units apart, the 22nd Avalon Hussars and 2nd Davion Guards stayed far apart. When the FedCom Civil War broke out, the two units relocated off of Bromhead. The 2nd Davion Guards went to Mendham with three regiments of militia troops.[4] On Mendham the 2nd Davion Guards were joined by the 21st Illician Rangers and both units were joined by the 4th Illician Rangers on Glentworth.[5] The Davion Guards and Illician Rangers then attacked Sirdar, a world that was filled with Department of the Quartermaster warehouses. There they inflicted serious losses on the Sirdar CMM, destroying a brigade of CMM troops in two weeks. The 4th Donegal Guards and 2nd Chisholm's Raiders reinforced the Loyalist CMM. Though the 2nd Davion Guards had established complete air superiority, they couldn't dislodge the Loyalist reinforcements. Instead they held their position until the 9th Illician Rangers and 1st Federated Suns Armored Cavalry reinforced them.[6] Eventually the Loyalist units were driven offworld.

After securing Sirdar, Jackson Davion ordered the 2nd Guards to move to Hadnall.[7] The Guards then went to Novaya Zemlya for a brief time[8] before attacking the 19th Arcturan Guards on Salem. Though the fighting was fierce, both units made a special effort to avoid damaging the General Motors plant on the world.[9] After seizing the world, the 2nd Davion Guards went to Galax to meet up with the Davion Heavy Guards. Both Guards units attacked New Avalon.[10]

After the FedCom Civil War ended, the Second Davion Guards were stationed on Angol in the Draconis March.[11]

Jihad

In 3069 during the Jihad, elements of the Second Davion Guards defended the germanium asteroid mines in the Caselton system from the Word of Blake.[12] In 3077 the Second Guards served as part of the Coalition forces in the Draconis Combine Task Force, along with the 1st Sword of Light, 2nd Genyosha, 2nd Dieron Regulars, and Clan Wolf's Iota Galaxy.[13] As part of Task Force MALLET, the Second Guards assaulted Singapore on Terra. There they fought alongside the ComGuard First Army, Kentares DMM, and 5th Free Worlds Guards regiments under the command of General Thomas Hogarth.[14] They faced elements of the 19th Division.[15] A captured Precentor would later accuse the forces commanded by Hogarth of assaulting civilian structures in Singapore.[16]

Leaving their wounded in Singapore, the Second Davion Guards redeployed to Terra's Washington Sector. While disembarking from their DropShips, nuclear warheads fired from Hilton Head landed, destroying nearly every member of the Second Davion Guards. The few survivors, numbering less than a battalion, were attached to the 1st Davion Guards until they could rebuild.[17]

By 3085 the Second Davion Guards were a separate unit once again, though dramatically understrength. They were equipped with a single 'Mech battalion, a regiment of hovertanks, and equipped with battle armor infantry.[18] The unit was stationed on New Avalon in 3085.[19]

Officers

Rank Name Command
Commanding Officers of the 2nd Davion Guards
Marshal Jessica Davion 3025[2]
Hauptmann General William Kossacks 3050 - 3062[20]
General Gerald Mitchell 3067[21][22][11]
Major General Tyrell Rand-Davion 3085[19]

Tactics

The Second Davion Guards fields a force that is lighter than most of their opponents. To balance this weight discrepancy, they use air support and artillery strikes to wear down their opponents. The Guards then use their mobility advantage to strike their opponent quickly and fade away before they can respond.[20]

In 3025 the Second Davion Guards was one of the few AFFS units to field a full regiment of artillery.[23]
