History

Formation

Fourth Succession War

The Second Genyosha hadn't been formed in time to participate in the Fourth Succession War.

Ronin Wars

In June 3034 the Second Genyosha arrived on Engadin under radio silence on DropShips provided by a "concerned businessman." The first inkling the 9th Rasalhague Regulars had that they were under attack was the arrival of several artillery strikes that leveled their barracks building. A series of coordinated air strikes destroyed the 9th Regular's command center, leaving the individual units of the Regulars unable to coordinate their defense. The Second Genyosha-still operating under radio silence-found and destroyed every ronin 'Mech. A week after they landed, the Second Genyosha had liberated a ComStar facility and destroyed the 9th Rasalhague Regulars. As soon as the Free Rasalhague Republic's 2nd Freemen arrived to garrison Engadin, the Second Genyosha left the world.[1]

War of 3039

During the War of 3039, the Second Genyosha fought alongside their brethren in the First Genyosha to liberate Nashira. The Second was responsible for analyzing the communications traffic between the Federated Suns forces on the world and identifying the location of their command staffs.[2] The Second used this intelligence to stage an "Avalanche Drop" on the positions of the 1st FedCom RCT, driving the FedCom unit out of their positions at the capital spaceport.[3] After holding the spaceport for two weeks before retreating due to the arrival of FedCom reinforcements. The Genyosha continued to control the tempo of the conflict, with the Genyosha seizing one refinery after another. When the FedCom troops re-captured the refinery and moved on to the next one, the Genyosha (backed up by local freedom fighters) would re-capture the refinery the FedCom had just taken.[3] These efforts kept the Federated Commonwealth troops running back and forth on the planet's surface, exhausting them.

One of the militia backed attacks found the militia using chemical weapons against the First FedCom RCT's troops. The Second Genyosha immediately assaulted the militia positions, capturing or killing every militiaman who was involved; Simultaneously the medical units attached to the Second Genyosha began caring for the FedCom troops who had been affected by the chemical attacks.[4]

Clan Invasion

The unit was stationed on world of Moore in the Dieron Military District as of 3050.[5]

The Second Genyosha was assigned to defend Luthien during the invasion. Elements of the Second were used to raid the rear areas of the 32nd Jaguar Regulars. This raid was successful.[6]

Only one battalion remained of the regiment following the Clan Invasion. The unit was removed from active duty to rebuild and retrain to elite status. The unit followed a unique strategy for rebuilding: They took troops from other veteran and elite units to form one battalion, and the third battalion was drawn from academy students who replaced their last year of studies with active duty training with the 2nd. The 2nd returned to active duty in 3057.[7]

Operation Bulldog

Under the command of Kai Allard-Liao for the first wave of Operation Bulldog, the Second Genyosha attacked Tarazed alongside the 1st St. Ives Lancers and the 3rd Donegal Guards RCT. [8] The SLDF forces received safcon from the defending 7th Jaguar Dragoons, and promptly destroyed the Dragoons in the Krycheck Mountain range.[9] They then functioned as the garrison for Tarazed for the rest of Operation Bulldog. [10]

Dominion War

To stall the Ghost Bear advance the Second Genyosha struck Ardoz. This forced the Bears to pull several front line Clusters from the front lines to track down the Genyosha.[8]

Federated Suns Incursion

Shortly after the Ghost Bear war ended, the Second Genyosha arrived on the Federated Suns border. There they joined forces with the 16th Galedon Regulars to recapture Marduk from the Suns. After that was complete the Genyosha captured Breed.[8]

Jihad

In 3067 the Second Genyosha were stationed on Benjamin.[11] They redeployed to Irurzun in 3068, just in time for the Black Dragon Society to launch a coup. The Second was briefly put out of action by a strike from Black Dragon-sponsored militia units, but after a six month long guerrilla campaign the Second returned the world to the Dragon's embrace.[12] After that they fought against the Federated Suns forces that were invading the Combine. Their primary opponent was the 2nd Davion Guards RCT.[13]

In 3075 they joined Operation SCOUR as part of the DCMS contribution to that multi-national force.[14] One of their first actions was to liberate Asta, a planet with many Word of Blake prison camps. Among the many prisoners of war, the Second found Andrew Redburn, captured in the Blakist assault on Tukayyid.[15] Later, the Second Genyosha broke the bloody stalemate on Fomalhaut, liberating the world from the Blakists.[16] During the assault on Terra the Second Genyosha was assigned to liberate Tokyo. They fought alongside the 1st Crucis Lancers and 23rd Arcturan Guards.[17]

The Second remained in the Tokyo area for most of their stay on Terra. Persistent rumors suggest that they "liberated" several historical artifacts with special meaning to the Kurita family.[12]

Republic Era

When they returned to the Combine, the Second was stationed on Lapida II. The DCMS High Command raided the unit for soldiers, transferring experienced Genyosha members to other regiments that desperately needed the experience.[13]

Dark Age

In 3144 during the invasion of the Federated Suns the Second Genyosha attacked and secured Mokane,[18] and then moved on to Sullivan. It is there that they were consolidating their position, reshuffling personnel to make up for the losses they had. [19]
