History
The Second Raventhir Cuirassiers were formed to provide an "ambassadorial" unit to the Capellan Confederation. The Second was officially named as a sister unit to the 7th Confederation Reserve Cavalry. Though the members of this unit realize that their creation was purely political, they take their duties as ambassadors seriously and would never shame the Magistracy.[1]
Unfortunately as one of the newest MAF commands they are constantly being raided by other units to plug gaps in their tables of organization. Just as a soldier gains enough experience to make a difference to the Cuirassiers, she's transferred to another unit. This has made forming any tactical specialties impossible and keeps the unit's experience level low. In fact many in the MAF regard the Second as an oversized militia defense battalion.[1]
Though officially stationed on Ballad II and Crawford's Delight,[2] the Second Raventhir Cuirassiers spent most of the late 3067 hunting pirates on those worlds and in the surrounding systems. The pirates raided these worlds often, frequently coming to blows with the Cuirassiers. The Second Cuirassiers were able to capture several pirate 'Mechs; but in each case the pilot killed him or herself before they could be interrogated.[3]
Officers
As of 3064 to 3067 the commanding officer was Colonel Geir Hedman, he was also the unit's commander after the Jihad in 3085.[1][2][4]
Tactics
The Cuirassiers are unable to develop a unique fighting style because the personnel exchange is too large.
