History[edit]

First Draconis Combine/Ghost Bear War[edit]

During the First Draconis Combine / Ghost Bear War, which began in 3062 with a suicidal attack by three regiments of the Alshain Avengers against Alshain.[1] A part of Omicron Galaxy, the Sixth Bear Regulars dropped on Nykvarn,[2] hitting the 5th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre. The first battle destroyed one battalion of the Fifth completely, and their losses continued to mount.[3] The Sixth concentrated assault BattleMechs against the Fifth Sun Zhang Academy Cadre, inflicting heavy damage until the campaign bogged down when the Fifth went to ground and started fighting a guerrilla war against the Ghost Bears.[2] Eventually the Fifth had to withdraw to Brocchi's Cluster to rebuild.[4]

The Jihad[edit]

Following the liberation of Terra the Sixth were incorporated into Sigma Galaxy[5] from Omicron Galaxy[6] to compensate Sigma for the loss of the Seventh Bear Regulars; the Sixth had trouble adjusting to life in Sigma, however, viewing the Galaxy as being a vehicle galaxy.[5]

Dark Age[edit]

The Sixth's tenure in Sigma Galaxy would be relatively short; the Ghost Bear's Theta Galaxy had taken substantial damage during the Jihad, and the Dominion Council decided to disband a number of second-line Galaxies to assist in rebuilding various elements of the touman. Sigma Galaxy was one of the Galaxies chosen to be disbanded, with three complete Clusters[7] - the Sixth Bear Regulars, Tenth Phalanx and Twelfth Provisional Garrison Cluster - transferring into Theta Galaxy.[8]

As a part of Theta Galaxy the Sixth was relocated to the heart of the Ghost Bear Dominion as it rebuilt from the Jihad and the mass defections to the Republic of the Sphere that had prompted the transfer of so many units from other Galaxies into it.[7]

At some point following the Rime Otter's debut in 3146, the Sixth engaged the Crater Cobras when the latter raided Soverzene. Despite taking heavy damage the Sixth's sole Rime Otter continued fighting day after day, proving the 'Mech's value in its intended role as a protector of its Starmates.[9]

Game Rules[edit]

3061[edit]

  • In common with every other unit in the Clan Ghost Bear touman at this point in time, the units within the Sixth Bear Regulars receive a +1 modifier to any dice roll on Random Weight-Class tables to determine Star or Binary/Trinary type.[16]
  • When units from the Sixth Bear Regulars are the defenders, the attacking force has two choices: to bargain for safcon, or to attack, with different rules coming into play based on the chosen option:[17]
  • If the attacker bargains for safcon, the Sixth Bear Regulars player chooses which edge of the map will be his home edge first.[17]
  • If the attacker bargains for safcon, the Sixth Bear Regulars player wins Initiative automatically in the first turn, and receives a +1 Bonus to Initiative rolls for the remainder of the game.[17]
  • If the attacker elects to attack, 2d6 is rolled for each attacking unit. On a roll of 12, that unit is destroyed. On a roll of 2, that unit suffers 2d6 damage allocated in 5-point clusters.[17]
  • If the attacker is arriving via a combat drop, he may not request safcon. Instead of rolling for potential damage as described above, the attacker must apply a +2 modifier to the landing roll target number for each dropping unit.[17]
  • The Sixth Bear Regulars player may choose an Executioner OmniMech of any standard configuration to replace any assault Battlemech generated via Random 'Mech Assignment Tables.[17]
