Overview

The Seventieth Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History

In 2764 the Seventieth was stationed alongside with the 29th BattleMech Division on New Earth[1], as part of X Corps within the First Army and was assigned to the Terran Military Region. The Seventieth was then transferred to District 2 of the Draconis Combine Military Region in 2765 as part of the SLDF response to the New Vandenberg Uprising.[2]

The 114th Hussar Regiment supported the Seventieth Infantry Division during the fighting in Virginia in 2779, successfully pushing back the Amaris Dragoons that had been defending the area.[3]

The Seventieth took heavy losses during the Hegemony Campaign, and was disbanded in 2780.[2]

Notes

In 2742 a private from the Seventieth, a gunner on a Turhan combat vehicle named Sandra Ustus, was inexplicably struck deaf, blind and dumb for five days. When Ustus recovered from whatever had caused her condition, she declared that the ghost of Jocasta Cameron had appeared to her and brought her a prophetic prediction: that First Lord Simon Cameron would be killed by an "assassin's digging machine". While this prediction would be largely forgotten, in 2751 Simon Cameron was killed by a Miner 'Mech which had apparently malfunctioned. As a result, Ustus' vision was one of a number of incidents that would fuel the rise of the Cult of the Saints Cameron during the closing years of the Star League.[6]
