The 982nd Royal Striker Regiment was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.
History[edit]
In 2764, the unit was assigned as part of LXXI Corps, Seventh Army to District 3 of the Capellan Confederation Military Region.[1] The 982nd was one of four independent regiments that made up the Fifth Regimental Combat Team. However, due to numerous attacks by pirates and bandits along the Capellan Confederation border, the Fifth RCT hadn't functioned as a combined unit since circa 2760 and the 982nd had been split up into battalion-sized task forces, constantly jumping around systems within the Confederation.[2]
The 982nd was moved to the Periphery in 2765 and was destroyed during the Periphery Uprising.[1]

Tactics[edit]
SLDF Striker regiments were used for reconnaissance and breakthrough exploitation.[3]
Composition History[edit]
As an SLDF Striker regiment, the 982nd would have been composed primarily of light to medium BattleMechs and had at least one company of Land-Air BattleMechs for recon. Also attached were pairs of aerospace fighters.[3]
