History
The Alcyone Capellan March Militia was well-known for its feverish defense of the worlds under its protection. They were slowly drawn into the FedCom Civil War by constant muttering from pro-Victor units like the 20th Avalon Hussars.[1] The Alcyone CMM didn't want to take sides in the Civil War, but felt that Katherine Steiner-Davion was the only person paying attention to the threat posed by the Capellan Confederation.[2] Toward that end the commanders of the Alcyone CMM began redistributing parts and supplies intended for the 20th Avalon Hussars and 5th Davion Guards to CMM-controlled warehouses. This increased tensions between the units on Alcyone. The tension was finally resolved when Marshal Kinsely Crossburns, commander of the Alcyone PDZ, was accidentally killed by a CMM MP. The CMM commanders refused to recognize the new commanding officer and withdrew into their fortresses.[3]
After holding off the line units for a few weeks, the Alcyone CMM surrendered after losing over 90% of their strength in various raids and siege operations by the 20th Avalon Hussars, 3rd NAIS Cadet Cadre, and 5th Davion Guards.[4]
By 3085, the Alcyone CrMM was suffering from dramatic logistical problems. The unit experienced everything from ammunition shortages to basic training failures. One company of Vedettes, for example, used manual firing controls that none of the unit's members could operate. The unit also had no aerospace support, forcing the unit to use conventional aircraft to get some sort of air cover.[5] They were based on Alcyone in 3085.[6]
