Description

The Amarok is unique assault 'Mech among the Clan Wolf’s touman as a close combat 'Mech. It was built and convince under Ramiel Bekker's idea of combating Death From Above (or DFA for short) tactics that were being employed by Clan Jade Falcon. However, he did not have a lot of time and had to seek assistance with Clan Sea Fox for additional help as he did with the Stormwolf. It was with his time with Clan Sea Fox that he started to investigate the Hammerhead, a new Clan Sea Fox 'Mech. It was with the Hammerhead that he borrowed design choices that would later be a part of the Amarok. For example, the use of Hardened Armor for better protection and modified its hand actuators to be used in close combat. [3]

While the Amarok was focused on combating DFA tactics, there was attempted to install a program a that would help the 'Mech to combat these tactics. The main idea was taken from data collection on Solaris VII and the layout of the Hammerhead to make a program that would force the 'Mech to lock its arms above the cockpit. But it ultimately failed and pilots of the 'Mech would soon disable this program until it was omission in further production runs. [3]

Weapons and Equipment

Built for combating Clan Jade Falcon’s DFA tactics, the Amarok is a new Clan assault 'Mech that was built for close combat warfare. The primary model has all its weapons in the torso, while the other variants have their weapons in the head and arms. It was also equipped with twenty and a half tons of Hardened Armor for better protection and a Supercharger to increase the speed of the 'Mech. The main long-range weapon is a PPC that is replaced for other long-range weapons in other variants to fight off incoming mechs that attempt to DFA. While the Amarok is not a fast 'Mech, it does have a MASC in the first variant to increase the speed. [3][4][5][6]

Variants

  • Amarok 2
The first variant strips out all its armaments for different weapons and added a MASC. In the right torso, there is a Streak LRM-20 and Improved Heavy Large Laser. There is an AP Gauss Rifle along with the ammo to replace the PPC. Finally, there are ER Large Laser in each arm and the head. BV (2.0) = 3,351[4]
  • Amarok 3
The second variant focused on combating the DFA tactics. They added spikes along with 12 tons of Hardened Armor to better protect the Amarok from mechs attempting DFA on them. Instead of a PPC or AP Gauss, there is a HAG 20 and instead of a Streak LRM 20, it is just a regular LRM 20. (2.0) = 2,675[5]
